jsamp Posted October 12, 2012 at 03:46 PM Report Share Posted October 12, 2012 at 03:46 PM Now that the figures are out on the C-Max (and presumably the Fusion) Energi, I have to say wow! I honestly thought they wouldn't make 100MPGe since so many others (Volt, Leaf, Prius) had tried and fallen short. Props to Ford on this one. Between the 100 MPGe and 47/47/47 fuel economy, they have a true winner in the PHEV realm. PlugMeIn

FusionEnergi Posted December 29, 2012 at 02:49 AM Report Share Posted December 29, 2012 at 02:49 AM I am excited about the MPGe also, I can't wait to see how much I can get using hypermiling techniques. With my 2007 Camry Hybrid the best I got was 55mpg (one great week) using the pulse and glide technique. My best with the 2004 Civic Hybrid was over 70mpg on a 100 mile trip, and got 60's all summer using forced auto stop, and a few other tricks. robertlane
jsamp Posted January 7, 2013 at 05:46 PM Author Report Share Posted January 7, 2013 at 05:46 PM Well, it seems the 47/47/47 does not apply to the Energi. The C-Max specs show 47/47/47 for the Hybrid, and 44/41/43 for the Energi. The Fusion will be the same. I've heard the gear ratio difference for the Energi is to blame. I've heard the gear ratio difference for the Energi is to blame.Yes, this is my understanding as well. The gear ratio is likely part of the reason for lower MPG numbers but the highway speed of the Energi, at 80 or 85 MPH, will come into play as well...you have to feed those horses in some way. If you don't use the plug-in capabilities of the Energi an appreciable amount of time, paying for that capability may not make good economic sense. The hybrid might be a better choice in that case. But, having said that, personally, I would rather have the plug-in capability so it is there just in case I can use it down the road, so to speak. rprobst Posted January 8, 2013 at 03:02 PM Report Share Posted January 8, 2013 at 03:02 PM I suspect that doubling the weight of the batteries will also affect the MPG.
pluggedin Posted January 8, 2013 at 07:02 PM Report Share Posted January 8, 2013 at 07:02 PM I suspect that doubling the weight of the batteries will also affect the MPG.The Ford specs I have for the Fusion Hybrid and Energi say the base curb weight for the Energi is 3,913 lbs and the Hybrid is 3,615 lbs, making the Energi 298 lbs heavier. And that is without any options that may also add weight that has to be pushed around. So, yes, the battery is a factor also. I'm afraid to see what my car will weigh! FusionEnergi Posted January 31, 2013 at 10:24 PM Report Share Posted January 31, 2013 at 10:24 PM Do you think splashguards would cause drag? I look forward to seeing how far we can push the 100MPGe limits. I recently saw this post http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1082019_kept-off-freeways-electric-cars-outpace-epa-range-says-edmunds which shows the EPA can be beat. Both front and rear molded splash guards are available after market, but more expensive. It is one more factory item I missed by being ahead of the curve. I would like to add them when the car gets here but I am sure about any drag they would cause either. I can't imagine it would be much though. If you want them (I do) just buy them and get them installed at the dealership. Mine are written into the deal but not part of my order. Add them to your order before a VIN is assigned to the car. Edited February 1, 2013 at 01:10 AM by pluggedin
meyersnole Posted February 1, 2013 at 02:18 AM Report Share Posted February 1, 2013 at 02:18 AM Interesting... well, if they don't end up on my car that wont crush my day when I take delivery. When I ordered they said it was not an option and had to be installed at the dealership.
shaggy314 Posted February 1, 2013 at 03:40 AM Report Share Posted February 1, 2013 at 03:40 AM It's on the build and price now and has been listed on fordaccessories.com for some time now. Likely the dealer does the install either way. I had them add the front and rear molded ones as a part of our agreed price. I gave them a bone and offered to pay $50 for all four to be installed (so it's on the warranty). :-)

When I ordered they said it was not an option and had to be installed at the dealership.Yes, it was true at the time of your order and mine as well. That was why I was so anxious for the Build and Price for the car to appear on Ford.com, because I knew there would be items available that were not on the order sheet that we used when I ordered my car. For me it's too late but if any of you see something you missed your dealer can add it up to the time the factory assigns the car a VIN. Once that happens, game over. FusionEnergi Posted April 14, 2013 at 12:04 AM Report Share Posted April 14, 2013 at 12:04 AM My display is showing 108 mpge, but my trip and life summary shows 140+mpge. What's up! Shouldn't that show in my display? And how are some showing 250 to 999 mpg. I dont see that anywhere?
FusionEnergi Posted May 25, 2013 at 01:13 AM Report Share Posted May 25, 2013 at 01:13 AM (edited) Okay, I am showing 150 MPGe from 1177.8 EV miles. The miles are all mostly city other than about 20miles on the highway going 62 or less And it should read 202 regen miles, but thats in a different post Edited May 25, 2013 at 01:15 AM by FusionEnergi Energized, meyersnole and pluggedin

I get caught by lights or traffic too many times (people pulling out in front of me) that keeps my score down. 92 I think.

I'm struggling to stay between 100 and 110 MPGe and now my wife is beginning to drive the car which is not helping at all. I am going to have to educate her, one more time, on how to take the car out of EV Now and put it into EV Later. Sound simple? You don't know my wife, lol. FusionEnergi Posted October 19, 2013 at 12:20 PM Report Share Posted October 19, 2013 at 12:20 PM (edited) Engine came on a few days ago while I was returning home from a trip to Walmart and I didn't even notice. It ran for about 1/3 a mile according to my Life summary( I didn't know till I took a photo and checked the Myfordmobile website under driving trips). It must have been a real smooth transition, I was driving very cautiously with radio off, the windows slightly down, and the a/c and vent off. I thought I would have noticed or heard the engine. I returned home with about 3/4 charge still left on the battery.I have been driving only in town the last few weeks and have noticed the MPGe going up.
