120v, Full charge in 3hr 59m ??

Yesterday I drove 26 miles on EV, the HVB less then 25% in the "hybrid mode" so the ICE was about ready to start [sometimes it does at that point in my commute]. I plugged the 120v charger in and got a 100% charge in  3 hours and 59 minutes. It usually is 5hr 20min.

How is this possible?

How cold was the HVB?  120 volts times 12 amps is 1.44 kW.  1.44 kW times 4 hours is 5.76 kWh.  I'm ignoring charging inefficiency but If the battery was cold that might be all it could take.

How stable is your power?  If there was one of those momentary power dropouts, where you can tell that the lights blinked, it may have aborted the charge cycle.

What does that mean?  Cannot be in hybrid mode unless the HVB was at 0%.  Was it at 20% or 0%?

My Cmax charges 100% full on 120v from 0% HVB in about 5 hours 45 minutes, at 20% surely it might take 4 hours...

The post is talking about the portion of the HVB reserved for hybrid mode. There are not 2 separate batteries, 1 for EV only driving and 1 for hybrid driving. There is 1 battery and a % of it is reserved for hybrid mode.

So Smokewagon is just saying the hyrid portion of the battery (on the MFM screen) was down to 25% of its available power (i.e. really low, below the 50% that is typically maintained).

The HVB never gets to 0% charge, that would be extremely detrimental to the battery.

Seems quite fast. I think Murphy might be on to something with the battery temp question.

Although, we've found that the car always charges faster than Ford says. The Energi takes 2 hrs & 5 mins at most and usually an "empty" battery takes 2 hrs & 0 mins to 2 hrs & 2 mins. An "empty" Focus Electric battery takes under 4 hours even though Ford's spec is around 5 hours.

After driving over 26 mi on the HVB it was completely dead, temps here were 75f the last couple days. I duplicated the same cycle last night and it took 5hr 17m as usual so I guessing it was a MFM fluke. I will watch it close the next few days.

26 miles EV - pretty darn good! Was it at fairly low speeds, below 40?

My speeds vary from 35 mph to 50 mph. I have gotten 30 mi on EV before, with temps in the 80s.

I always use eco cruise.

I bump it down 2 clicks going up hill and bump it up 2 clicks going downhill.

I use climate "vent" most of the time.  But you got to have clean glass. pita

Tire pressures: left 39 psi, right 40 psi.

The car is usually warm when leaving the house. I have an attached garage with a south facing door and the sun warms up the slab all day.

I do use the EBH in the winter, set on a timer for 2.5 hours just before departure. [ off peak rate 5.3 cents ]

I just started using the "L" selection on the shifter, it works good in a parking lot with 8 speed bumps.
