HotLap Posted November 10, 2014 at 09:04 PM Report Share Posted November 10, 2014 at 09:04 PM All, was checking out Ford pipeline products today and came across the 2016 Ford Bronco. Not sure if this is going to be a real production item or not? I do find it interesting though that Ford thinks there is a market for a full sized, F-150 based gas guzzler with only two doors? Would have rather seen the new Bronco based on the Explorer or Escape and smaller, more in line with the original Bronco, not the bloated Bronco of the 80's...anyone know if this is going to make it to production or not? Fat Fusion Posted November 11, 2014 at 01:19 AM Report Share Posted November 11, 2014 at 01:19 AM Probably not from what I've read. But, you never know with Ford. The bigger short term news is the reveal of the GT350 in LA next week, and the ever growing speculation of a successor to the Ford GT. The GT350 is rumored to have a "flat plane crank" like a Ferrari as well as a healthy dose of carbon fiber including wheels on the R model. rtshinn Posted November 14, 2014 at 02:01 PM Report Share Posted November 14, 2014 at 02:01 PM I want a small PHEV truck. Make it happen, Ford! HotLap
Rexracer Posted November 14, 2014 at 04:03 PM Report Share Posted November 14, 2014 at 04:03 PM Ford already has the bronco successor. a smallish, very off-road capable rig running either a turbo 4 or a couple of different diesels. All while having 3 rows of seating. Oh but wait, we can't possibly bring this rig to the US, no one would want something so fun, practical, and good looking... http://truckyeah.jalopnik.com/2015-ford-everest-is-a-modern-mall-crawler-that-can-rea-1658332784 I would absolutely buy this rig with either of the Diesels in it, but sadly we wont get it, and I will end up getting a Honda Pilot instead. HotLap Posted November 14, 2014 at 11:07 PM Author Report Share Posted November 14, 2014 at 11:07 PM rt, agreed, rr thanks for the link the rear of the Everest looks to be very similar to the Escape...why wouldn't Ford just do an Escape based off road 4x4, actually I bet the Escape was based of the Ranger anyway? Perhaps not?
Rexracer Posted November 17, 2014 at 04:28 PM Report Share Posted November 17, 2014 at 04:28 PM Escape doesn't have the space to do 3 rows of seating. Its also unlikely that it has enough structure to hang heavier duty axles under. Would be easier to update the Everest with the few crash requirements and import to US. Though if they were importing it, it would likely become cost prohibitive.
