looking372 Posted October 31, 2014 at 11:42 PM Report Share Posted October 31, 2014 at 11:42 PM Does anyone have week/spotty reception on their satellite radio? Compared to my Sonata Hybrid which has no dropouts, I loose reception for a few second quite frequently on my 2015 FFE
Hybridbear Posted November 2, 2014 at 05:40 PM Report Share Posted November 2, 2014 at 05:40 PM I've heard that there are differences between Sirius & XM. Ford uses the Sirius type receiver. I don't know what the difference is or if this is true, but it's what I was told.
murphy Posted November 2, 2014 at 05:57 PM Report Share Posted November 2, 2014 at 05:57 PM They are definitely different. I have used an XM radio and a Sirius radio on the same route that has tall trees that block the view to the sky. The XM radio worked fine with no dropouts. The Sirius radio (2010 Fusion Hybrid and 2013 Fusion Energi) had lots of dropouts. I no longer have an active satellite radio subscription in my car. looking372 Posted November 3, 2014 at 03:55 AM Author Report Share Posted November 3, 2014 at 03:55 AM Very interesting and disappointing to hear. I was hoping that it would be something the dealer could fix, doesn't sound that way. It's surprising that so many years after they merged back in 2011 they would have consolidated their technology. rbort Posted November 3, 2014 at 02:56 PM Report Share Posted November 3, 2014 at 02:56 PM I had the same issue with my radio in my Cmax. Dropouts for a second here and there from tall trees or under a bridge or something, not serious but enough to be annoying. Anyways, I don't pay for Sirrus it expired after 6 months and I don't miss the dropouts to be honest. -=>Raja.

The company merged, but there are still multiple satellite signals -- requiring different equipment to receive the signals. Are you just listening to music or is there some specific content that you are listening to on Sirius? Why not just switch to a bluetooth or usb media player or if you have a smartphone listen to what you want on there (pandora, spotify, etc)? System works very well.
