FusionEnergi Posted September 23, 2014 at 10:23 PM Report Share Posted September 23, 2014 at 10:23 PM (edited) I have noticed that the plastic trim piece on the door is warping / bulging up: Located in front of the window controls the trim is pulling away from the leather. The best way to explain it is like if someone has tried to pry the trim piece up. This is most noticed on the drivers door. The back seat passenger doors are starting to do the same. The front passenger side trim is fine.I took it into the shop and most of the Fusions on the lot were staring to do the same thing. They were not all energi's.Has anyone else noticed this?My service rep was not aware of any fix or recall yet, and by putting on new ones the issue may happen again.I will get it fixed while it's still under warranty, but will wait for the moment for a recall fix with improved parts. Eric4539 Posted September 27, 2014 at 03:12 PM Report Share Posted September 27, 2014 at 03:12 PM All 4 doors on my car are showing the same warpage although the front passenger door is the least affected. The other 3 doors do not look quite as warped as your picture shows on your car. Let us know when you take your car in and what your dealer does. I will call my dealer next week since I will be out of town this weekend. If my car goes in before yours does I will let everyone know what my dealer says and how they repair the warping pieces. Thanks for the heads up!
jeff_h Posted September 27, 2014 at 03:28 PM Report Share Posted September 27, 2014 at 03:28 PM Looks like cheaply-made components, doesn't it? I looked on fordparts.com and think that 14527 is the affected housing for at least one of the doors - cost is about $23 so it's an inexpensive part that I assume was made as inexpensive (and thus warpable?) as possible, who knows... shaggy314 Posted September 29, 2014 at 07:43 PM Report Share Posted September 29, 2014 at 07:43 PM If that bothers you, wait until you see the headliner where is meets the front a rear windows unravel. All I get is 'that is normal' from the local dealer.
meyersnole Posted October 2, 2014 at 08:39 PM Report Share Posted October 2, 2014 at 08:39 PM If that bothers you, wait until you see the headliner where is meets the front a rear windows unravel. All I get is 'that is normal' from the local dealer. If you have the same issue as mine, they blamed it on being cut too short. The service guy took some pictures of it and sent it to Ford and they approved the replacement. Honestly, they should just put some trim on it to fix it... seems excessive to replace... what ever. Unfortunately the replacement part they sent was defective, so back to Ford for another part.
bwheetley Posted October 5, 2014 at 09:21 PM Report Share Posted October 5, 2014 at 09:21 PM Has anyone else noticed this? Here is the picture, you can see the warping pretty good.Just had to learn about using personal hotspot then configure everything. Install picture software for editing, crop picture and resize the pixels...... Didn't take long, just a few hoursI actually just noticed this same problem on one of my back doors yesterday. I didn't take the time to look closely at it and thought that it may not be fastened or snapped in completely. But from what your saying looks like I might need to have a dealer look at it at sone point.
HotLap Posted October 16, 2014 at 03:04 PM Report Share Posted October 16, 2014 at 03:04 PM meyersnole and bwheetly, I too have the headliner "frayed" edge at both the windshield and rear window ends, strange that Ford didn't simply add an additional inch at each end and glue it down on the backside...like they have always done with their other vehicles in the past? Mine is visibly frayed along the entire length of both the front and rear edges, but if it starts to come apart I'll use some 3M adhesive and glue the edge back down myself, much quicker and easier than having the dealer tear out my entire headliner and hope it gets replaced correctly and that everything is working properly. (another case of cure being worse than cause in my mind). Also, meyersnole, it sounds as if this has not yet been addressed by Ford and they are still sending the same original headliner (made the same way) out to the dealers? It will take a while for Ford to address and fix this issue as they will have to change the manufacturing process on the headliner and that will likely take time (unless, of course, Ford is already aware of the issue and has implemented the change in manufacturing process and the new, headliner is available). Hybridbear Posted October 19, 2014 at 06:39 PM Report Share Posted October 19, 2014 at 06:39 PM They have had a number of headliner issues.
bwheetley Posted November 15, 2014 at 03:10 PM Report Share Posted November 15, 2014 at 03:10 PM Ford replaced my warping trim under warranty. The dealer has to send photographic evidence to Ford for them to deem it acceptable for replacement. (Maybe Ford has had more reports and are gathering info on it.) Hopefully the new trim doesn't warp.
