NaplesGeezer Posted August 19, 2014 at 02:03 PM Report Share Posted August 19, 2014 at 02:03 PM I am a Energi new-be. I will be taking delivery of my 2015 Titanium in about 2 weeks. My question is. I stay in a RV park all winter and I am thinking about purchasing the 240v charging station, so does the 240v station plug into a 50amp outlet or a 30amp outlet? Russael Posted August 19, 2014 at 02:46 PM Report Share Posted August 19, 2014 at 02:46 PM That depends on the size of the charging station you want. They offer stations (like the one I have) that plug in to a 20A 240V outlet, which works great for the Fusion and CMAX, but not so great for other vehicles that have higher capacity onboard chargers. Mine will still work with those, but the rate will be limited to 16A. If you want to 'future proof' in case you decide you might want to go full BEV or if newer PHEVs down the road come with higher capacity chargers, you can get a 32A charging station, and those plug in to 40 or 50A 240V outlets. About the only charger I'm aware of that uses a 30A outlet is a Clipper Creek 25A 240V charger, but there may be some others.
Doug0716 Posted August 19, 2014 at 11:17 PM Report Share Posted August 19, 2014 at 11:17 PM If you care about size you should check these types of chargers out: http://www.homedepot.com/p/AeroVironment-TurboCord-Dual-120-240-Volt-16-Amp-Plug-In-EV-Charger-Charging-Station-23076-020/205140676 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nissan-LEAF-Level-2-EVSE-Charger-120-240V-High-Power-/151381354015?_trksid=p2054897.l4275 If you don't care about size I would consider a Juicebox since the price is right and it can take advantage of the full 50A circuit if you get a car w/ higher capacity chargers in the future:http://www.emotorwerks.com/products/online-store/product/show/44-emw-juicebox-level-2-15kw-ev-charging-station-kit-or-assembled-unit Joatnm
