Lightfoot Posted August 5, 2014 at 06:07 AM Report Share Posted August 5, 2014 at 06:07 AM (edited) I'm pretty sure that MyFord Mobile calculates MPG fuel efficiency by averaging the MPGe value while driving in EV mode with the MPG while driving in hybrid mode. I want to know what my hybrid-only fuel efficiency is. Is this possible? Edited August 5, 2014 at 06:44 AM by Lightfoot
larryh Posted August 5, 2014 at 09:40 AM Report Share Posted August 5, 2014 at 09:40 AM (edited) If you want to determine MPG for hybrid mode, you would have to reset a trip odometer after the car enters hybrid mode to track MPG. You cannot determine hybrid mode MPG from the data provided by MyFord Mobile if you used plug-in energy. Lightfoot Posted August 7, 2014 at 02:29 AM Author Report Share Posted August 7, 2014 at 02:29 AM (edited) If I did a trip solely in EV Later mode, would then MyFord Mobile give me a relatively accurate estimate of my MPGs in hybrid mode? larryh Posted August 7, 2014 at 08:55 AM Report Share Posted August 7, 2014 at 08:55 AM (edited) Yes, as long as it was a long enough trip. You should verify that the HVB battery SOC is approximately the same level at the start and end of the trip. Kybuck Posted August 9, 2014 at 03:51 AM Report Share Posted August 9, 2014 at 03:51 AM It'd be best if you started without a full charge. Otherwise, the car would automatically use EV for the first bit to drop down the battery to 95%. It'd also be good to not have the trip end at a frequent destination to avoid having it go into EV+ mode (if enabled).
murphy Posted August 9, 2014 at 11:15 AM Report Share Posted August 9, 2014 at 11:15 AM The FFH also has EV+ mode so to get a fair comparison I would leave it enabled. Drive the car in EV Now mode until the HVB is completely drained. Fill the gas tank and remember how many times you clicked the handle of the gas pump and the odometer reading. Reset one of the trip meters. Drive the car for as long as you feel is necessary to get a good calculation. Go back to the same gas pump and fill the tank again using the same number of clicks. That gives you the amount of gas used for the test and the odometer reading minus the previous reading gives the distance travelled. The MPG calculation may not match the number in the trip meter that you reset but they should be close.
