rbort Posted October 18, 2014 at 02:42 PM Report Share Posted October 18, 2014 at 02:42 PM Well, I was a gas miser yesterday and never started the engine on my trip to Boston and back. I did get a wide variety of MPGe numbers, check this out: Battery level 100%, home to Big-Y in Walpole, average speed 35mph, temp 70, daylight radio only, 186 MPGe battery level 70%, trip distance 10.6 miles.Battery level 100%, Walpole to Boston, average speed 55mph on the highway, some slowdowns due to traffic, temp 70, daylight radio only, 190 MPGe, battery level 35%, trip distance 22.1 miles Trip from Walpole to Boston is amazingly efficient, not sure why, probably had a good tail wind my guess. Battery level 100%, Boston back to Walpole, average speed 52mph on the highway (slow down 3mph for headlights), temp 60, headlights and radio, 136 MPGe, battery level 0%, trip distance 22.7 milesBattery level 40%, Walpole back to home, average speed 32mph, temp 60, headlights and radio, 187 MPGe, battery level 2%, trip distance 10.6 miles. It looked "possible" to get all the way to Boston on the way in without having to charge at Walpole, but I always stop there as a habit and top it back up before making the 22 mile highway trip there. Seemed amazing yesterday to get there with very little energy used (only 3.9kwh) even though I drove 55 alot of the way there. Generally its more like my way home, and there could have been a headwind last night on the way home as the warm air is blowing from the south. Anyway, thought you guys might find it of interest. I had the time to kill in Walpole to check my emails and such, so I never started the engine. -=>Raja. wazer
wazer Posted October 19, 2014 at 01:28 PM Report Share Posted October 19, 2014 at 01:28 PM Impressive! I tried to be fuel efficient on my trip to Indiana yesterday, and was for the most part. But I spent too much time there and got really tired on the long drive back late last night. Ended up learning that the cruise control maxes out at 103 MPH. :superhero:
