Checkers Posted July 25, 2014 at 11:17 PM Report Share Posted July 25, 2014 at 11:17 PM I drove 1732 miles this week with only the initial charge. I got 43.5mpg with about 85% freeway. Not too bad considering. I used AC about 90% of the time. Construction zones definitely helped! wazer Posted July 26, 2014 at 12:24 AM Report Share Posted July 26, 2014 at 12:24 AM What kind of speeds were you averaging on the interstate?
Checkers Posted July 26, 2014 at 01:56 AM Author Report Share Posted July 26, 2014 at 01:56 AM About 3-5 above posted speeds. I had to fill up each day. One day I put almost 13.5 gallons.
snedecr Posted July 30, 2014 at 12:27 PM Report Share Posted July 30, 2014 at 12:27 PM I HATE those trips (even though I shouldn't!) They eat into my 80-90 mpg average. My head knows I should be tracking mpge, but my heart loves to see high mpg's!
meyersnole Posted August 17, 2014 at 02:49 AM Report Share Posted August 17, 2014 at 02:49 AM Even though it hurts to see only 40s for MPGs, it is still very good for a car this size. Hybridbear
wazer Posted August 17, 2014 at 01:15 PM Report Share Posted August 17, 2014 at 01:15 PM The past few months, my longer trips have been about 60 miles away, and I have no problem slowing down and keeping the cruise set to 60 mph on the highway with the A/C on. I average 37 mpg with my 09 Accord (EPA highway rated 30 mpg) doing that. I came back late last night and since the traffic on the highway was light, I shut off the A/C and set the cruise to 50 mph. Arrived home with a 45 mpg average. There may have been a small tail wind to help with that, but I was impressed, as that was the first time I did highway travel with the cruise below 55 for the whole trip. By the way, the interstate minimum speed limit here in Iowa is 40 mph, so I was still legal. ;) I'm hoping to get 50-60 mpg on the highway with the Energi in EV Later mode doing speeds of 50-60 mph.
