sgcole Posted July 24, 2014 at 06:07 PM Report Share Posted July 24, 2014 at 06:07 PM I'll be picking up my new Ford Fusion Energi Titanium on Saturday 8/2. Dealer has been surprisingly professional and accommodating. I must say I am impressed!I'm collecting suggestions for additional dealer assistance at delivery. Here's what I have so far:(1) Activate DRL(2) Instruction in MySync (not sure if I really need this, but...) Others? Thanks.
Eric4539 Posted July 25, 2014 at 04:12 AM Report Share Posted July 25, 2014 at 04:12 AM Oh, I bet you can't wait for 8/2! Congratulations! There is an extensive walk through list that my dealer covered with me when I picked up my Energi. My dealer was very knowledgable about the vehicle. But in the event that your dealer does not go through this check list with you, here are a few things that I thought of: - Have your dealer at least start the MySync process for you. My dealer did that with me sitting in the car.- If you have Active Park Assist your dealer should let you play with that on a test drive.- How to unlock the car should your 12v battery die and how to jump start the car.- Ask your dealer about the $1500 refund from state of California.- If you're interested in applying for the HOV decals, ask your dealer for information.- You can register for the Blink charging network and your dealer may have that available; mine did.- If you're not already registered on MyFordMobile your dealer can do that with you since you need your VIN. It was brain overload for me because my dealer covered everything, including cycling through the different menus on the instrument panel and using voice commands for the Navigation and the radio. You may have a complimentary Sirius XM subscription. If you do, he should demonstrate that too. A lot of stuff!! But a lot of fun!! Good luck! jeff_h Posted July 25, 2014 at 12:10 PM Report Share Posted July 25, 2014 at 12:10 PM (edited) 1 - Check both fobs and make sure each one locks/unlocks the doors; I saw a post a while back from an owner who had one fob inop, didn't find it until getting home and then had to go through the hoops to get it reprogrammed/replaced. Once I read this, I sent a note to my salesman a couple days before picking up my car asking him to quickly check it, and if there was an issue they could have it worked out by the time of delivery. 2 - If you want an extended warranty, you can very likely save money by purchasing online over buying from the dealer. When I take delivery, I get the sales pitch by the finance rep and ask them to print out the info sheet so that I can think about it -- then I go home and compare prices and find that I can save $500 or more by buying online. But if you find that your particular dealer has a deal too good to pass up, you can always contact the dealer a week or two later and purchase then. Most people just roll the cost of the extended warranty into the financing of the car, but to me $500 is one heck of a convenience fee so I do it separately. 123man Posted July 30, 2014 at 02:55 AM Report Share Posted July 30, 2014 at 02:55 AM Congrats on the new Energi! We have had ours for exactly one month and I am void of finding much of any thing I would change on this car! (Ive had a lot of cars)I keep asking why are not all cars made this way? Really!!!!!!!The only thing I can complain about is the trunk lid springs are too soft....loading it for a trip the wind blew it down with my head inside and bang! No problem, it hit something hard.Good luck! you absolutely will love this car! I am sure.Long trip...1130 miles...charged here and there (500 miles each way, 75 mph) 44.7 mpg overall....at home average of 62...
jeff_h Posted July 30, 2014 at 12:29 PM Report Share Posted July 30, 2014 at 12:29 PM The only thing I can complain about is the trunk lid springs are too soft....loading it for a trip the wind blew it down with my head inside and bang! There was a TBS issued halfway through the 2013 model year for trunks with spoilers not having enough spring to keep the lid up... if you have had yours for a month I assume it is a 2014 and thus should have a stronger spring, but I guess not...
easyv Posted August 1, 2014 at 10:11 PM Report Share Posted August 1, 2014 at 10:11 PM LOL...my dealer was like we've never sold one of these spaceships before, here you go. will you be paying cash? oh, and make sure you give us top marks on our survey. I'd done a lot of research and watched all the Ford U Tube vids. I'd safely say I knew more then everyone at that dealer combined.
sgcole Posted August 3, 2014 at 01:25 PM Author Report Share Posted August 3, 2014 at 01:25 PM Well, I am now the proud owner of a Metallic Grey Energi Titanium. Thanks for all who provided suggestions for pickup. I must say that the purchase experience was very professional. I am impressed that Ford dealers are doing something right. If you're in the Bay Area (greater San Francisco) buy your Fusion from Marc at Tracy Ford-worth the drive. Car is fantastic. I really like the voice activated climate controls. How cool is that? Fit/finish is beyond anything that I've seen in a North American car in years. Seats are very comfortable. Handling is solid (though the Michelin high MPG tires are a bit stiff). Plenty of cabin room for 4 adults. Trunk is useful enough, given that large Li-ion battery in there. My only complaint-nit really-is that the included floor mats are kind of cheap. I'll replace these in 6 months with some better rubber mats. I'm looking forward to a long (8 years and/or 130k miles) involvement with this forum. Cheers!SGC wazer
Energized Posted August 3, 2014 at 02:12 PM Report Share Posted August 3, 2014 at 02:12 PM Looks great, congratulations. My Ford dealer and sales person were very professional as well. My floor mats have held up well after 17 months (as has the rest of the car for that matter). In addition to the standard mats, I have the optional factory rubber floor mats took but they're still unused in the plastic package. Enjoy your ride. sgcole Posted August 9, 2014 at 10:49 PM Author Report Share Posted August 9, 2014 at 10:49 PM BTW-the dealer would NOT enable the DRLs. Showed me a service note from Ford Corporate that enabling this feature would be a violation of Ford Motor Co. Dealer license, blah blah. So I have an inquiry into Ford as to 'Why is this prohibited in US?' I will keep you posted.
wazer Posted August 10, 2014 at 03:40 PM Report Share Posted August 10, 2014 at 03:40 PM DRLs are only available for fleet customers for 2013/2014 models, but they're making DRLs a configurable instrument cluster option in all 2015 Fusions. Russael Posted August 12, 2014 at 01:30 AM Report Share Posted August 12, 2014 at 01:30 AM I find it weird that they won't enable DRLs... on my way to Baltimore, I had a multitude of Fusions (gas ones) that had DRLs on pass me on the freeway, and they did not appear to be fleet vehicles. One or two were Titanium trims. I believe all of them had PA plates too.
wazer Posted August 12, 2014 at 10:52 AM Report Share Posted August 12, 2014 at 10:52 AM (edited) They were probably rental cars, or were once rental cars. Here's an example of a rental car window sticker, DRL is listed as a $40 option, only available to Ford Fleet customers. Looking at the fleet preview guide, you can see that DRLs and the engine block heater are fleet order exclusives. Granted, there have been a handful of people who were successful in coaxing their dealer into modifying their vehicle software to enable this feature. But I'm sure that the dealers who are saying they really can't/shouldn't, are correct. It also appears that fleet orders won't ship with configurable DRLs for the 2015 model year. They'll continue to have "always on" DRLs from the factory, with no driver configuration available. EnergiCCAATS Posted August 12, 2014 at 02:07 PM Report Share Posted August 12, 2014 at 02:07 PM Ford, WAKE UP and put LED DRLs on these models (all Hybrids and Energis), or at least on the Titanium trim levels.
