meyersnole Posted July 23, 2014 at 02:52 PM Report Share Posted July 23, 2014 at 02:52 PM Looks good! Did you have it installed or do it yourself?
jdhl Posted July 24, 2014 at 12:36 AM Author Report Share Posted July 24, 2014 at 12:36 AM I did on a Saturday. Took about 5 hrs. I do have a lift in my garage. Probably wouldn't have done it myself otherwise. meyersnole
nascarnat Posted August 19, 2014 at 05:22 PM Report Share Posted August 19, 2014 at 05:22 PM Looks nice. Although rather funny with the Energi (not that most people know what an Energi is to begin with, so they would be none the wiser). Go Blue! Cairo94507 Posted December 21, 2014 at 02:55 PM Report Share Posted December 21, 2014 at 02:55 PM (edited) I did the exact same thing on my FFET, back in July when I got my '14 FFET, and also added the dual exhaust Ford muffler so it all works like it came from the factory that way. The muffler was about $300 delivered and comes with the entire pipe all the way up to the engine. I cut it off right at the muffler and had it welded to the stock Energy exhaust pipe and it bolted up like it was intended to be there. Everything fits perfectly and the car looks a lot nicer with the dual exhaust finishers IMO. Hybridbear Posted December 21, 2014 at 07:18 PM Report Share Posted December 21, 2014 at 07:18 PM Would there be any issues if your car were ever rear-ended? Such as, would the insurance company refuse to pay for the different part since it's not stock?
Cairo94507 Posted January 3, 2015 at 05:06 AM Report Share Posted January 3, 2015 at 05:06 AM No issues at all. With my insurance, the car is repaired to what it was at the time of the accident.
Hybridbear Posted January 3, 2015 at 02:02 PM Report Share Posted January 3, 2015 at 02:02 PM Interesting. If they had a rear valence with no exhaust pipe that's what I'd choose. I love the fact that the Focus Electric has such a clean back end with no exhaust pipe sticking out. Now that it's winter and you can see the exhaust from cars I wonder how many people notice as we drive that both the Focus & the Fusion aren't emitting any dirty exhaust fumes into the air. Cairo94507 Posted January 4, 2015 at 02:03 PM Report Share Posted January 4, 2015 at 02:03 PM Not sure what you mean, my Energi had an exhaust pipe sticking out on the passenger's side rear with a chrome tip if I recall correctly. The valance also had a cut out in the valance to allow the pipe to stick out.
Hybridbear Posted January 5, 2015 at 10:01 PM Report Share Posted January 5, 2015 at 10:01 PM Not sure what you mean, my Energi had an exhaust pipe sticking out on the passenger's side rear with a chrome tip if I recall correctly. The valance also had a cut out in the valance to allow the pipe to stick out. Exactly. I wish there was a way to modify the rear valence to hide the exhaust pipe since most of the time around the city we're driving EV. I like the fact that our Focus Electric has a smooth rear bumper with no exhaust pipe holes.
HotLap Posted January 7, 2015 at 07:45 PM Report Share Posted January 7, 2015 at 07:45 PM jdhl, I like that look, now lose the badging and you will have a nice clean look from the rear! I'd probably go ahead and do it the way Cario did but have the exhaust shop install a smaller/lighter weight muffler with (the stock one is HUGE) the twin pipes going into the new exhaust outlets. Just to be clear, the valance you are referring to is the upper 3/4's of the rear bumper fascia and the skirt is the lower stock Ford piece? If that's right, I'm not understanding why you changed the upper valance piece as it looks stock and wouldn't it be much simpler to just change out the lower skirt piece that contains the dual exhaust outlets? HotLap Posted January 7, 2015 at 07:51 PM Report Share Posted January 7, 2015 at 07:51 PM Hybridbear, I like your suggestion as well, no exhaust outlet, and just have the exhaust tip pointing down a bit recessed. Not sure if would have an issue with exhaust fumes pooling underneath the rear or not (probably not) but that would be clean look and and then if we could bondo the fuel door shut - no one would ever guess :) JK on the fuel door! Cairo94507 Posted January 17, 2015 at 02:56 PM Report Share Posted January 17, 2015 at 02:56 PM (edited) The rear of my car is de-badged too. Edited January 17, 2015 at 02:57 PM by Cairo94507
