Checkers Posted July 8, 2014 at 01:46 AM Report Share Posted July 8, 2014 at 01:46 AM I think it is time to change my car wash. Every time I go through this one automatic car wash, it pops open my truck and my driver seat moves to an odd position along with both mirrors. It only happens at this one particular car wash, UGH, Interesting.
howardbc Posted July 8, 2014 at 04:36 AM Report Share Posted July 8, 2014 at 04:36 AM Every car wash changes the position of the seat so they can vacuum around it. I wonder if your mirrors change automatically if the seat position is changed? Just a thought ... Do you have the model where you can program in your seat and mirror positions and save it under a number on the driver's door panel? Do you mean they pop open the trunk while it's going through the wash? That's not good. But car wash employees have to eventually pop open the trunk to vacuum it out. I watched one employee open my charge port (inside the wash) trying to figure out what it was. The next time I told the order-taker to tell the employees to leave that round door alone. It was even worse with my Prius. If the employee couldn't see the key (which I'd leave in the accessory box), they'd freak out and think they couldn't move the car. Now, with my FFE, I leave it in plain view in one of the cup holders. The only problem is I have twice left it in the cup holder while I went to the grocery store afterwards! It got me to thinking if car thieves have figured out the best time to steal a car is right after it's washed. REL
snedecr Posted July 8, 2014 at 03:00 PM Report Share Posted July 8, 2014 at 03:00 PM Whenever I hand wash my car, touching the door handles with 1) my hands, 2) a washcloth, 3) my somewhat overhanging tummy, or even 4) a stream of water! causes a constant locking and unlocking of the doors! Maybe the bristles of the brushes are hitting the number pad on the door and putting in some magic code to select driver position #x on the seat memory system... Russael Posted July 8, 2014 at 03:11 PM Report Share Posted July 8, 2014 at 03:11 PM Resolution for that is to not wash your car with the key in your pocket (or within 5 feet of the car). I experienced this when I first got my car and gave it its first bath. :)
