Todd Andrews Posted June 24, 2014 at 02:52 AM Report Share Posted June 24, 2014 at 02:52 AM I just got lucky and leased a new Blue Fusion Energi SE. I previously had a Kia Optima Hybrid but needed more room so I had an SUV with 3 rows and really felt the pinch at the pump. I am very excited to drive the Fusion. I'm not sure about the 220V charger and I wonder if having one will make a difference in my ability to run all electric. We have solar power on our home so I am hoping that faster charging during that time we are producing, will make charging almost free. ThanksTodd Andrews
Eric4539 Posted June 24, 2014 at 03:05 AM Report Share Posted June 24, 2014 at 03:05 AM Hi Todd, Oh you are going to love the Fusion Energi which I am sure you already know! And welcome to the forum with the many helpful and intelligent friends here. My drives in town are short so I wanted the convenience of quick charges which is why I purchased the 220 charger. For me it was not about the cost but about the convenience of always having a full battery. I have not regretted buying the 220 charger for a second. murphy Posted June 24, 2014 at 10:14 AM Report Share Posted June 24, 2014 at 10:14 AM If you make multiple trips from home during the day the ability to completely recharge in two hours is very nice. I last bought gasoline when I was 265 miles from home in December of 2013.

You don't indicate where you live so let me tell you my experience here in AZ. I have solar on my house too and before I bought my Energi I was overproducing energy by about 3,000 kwh's a year and was banking energy every month. Last year I used all of the energy I produced and had to purchase a little bit more for about two to three months, if memory serves. And I only drove about 11,000 miles last year. So there is no free lunch. The way I see it is my utility company only pays me about 2.5 cents per kwh that I put back into the grid, so I would much rather use the power I over produce than let the utility company screw me. It's much less expensive than buying gasoline. I also have a 220 charger and most days I use it two to three times a day. For me it's very convenient. Happy motoring.
