bz101 Posted May 13, 2014 at 09:36 AM Report Share Posted May 13, 2014 at 09:36 AM I just got my 2014 Energi (which is a great step up from my 2010 Fusion Hybrid). But I'm having an issue with the SirusXM traffic that I haven't seen listed in this or any other forum. The connection to Sirius seems fine (i.e., I can see all the Travel Link info and when listing all the options in settings they show as "subscribed"), however traffic rerouting and alerts seems to be non-existent. On the map, I do see the red traffic lines and the updated ETA reflect the flow of traffic, but if I go to "Traffic On Route" it says there are no incidents. Even on a 165 mile drive where it says 2h:30m and then after downloading the traffic flow it added 30+ minutes to the ETA (now shows 3h:04m) I see "no incidents on route" when checking the corresponding Travel Link screen. I also see no pop-ups alerting me of a traffic incident and I am not offered an alternative route. I have the rerouting setting set to "manual" and show all traffic alerts to "on". Even with "automatic rerouting" it doesn't do anything. I've refreshed the SiriusXM link (which I don't think is the problem since the red lines and ETA accurately reflect traffic flow) and I did a Master Reset of the system. No luck. Anyone ever seen this or know how the traffic alerting / rerouting is supposed to work? Thanks!
Towmod Posted May 14, 2014 at 05:16 PM Report Share Posted May 14, 2014 at 05:16 PM Mine works well int h LA area, you might want to compare to another service to see want if any alerts they have at the same time.
bz101 Posted May 14, 2014 at 08:09 PM Author Report Share Posted May 14, 2014 at 08:09 PM Thanks. I'm in the NYC area and do receive good traffic data (i.e., the red lines and ETA are updated to reality). The problem I have is that no traffic incidents cause the system to reroute or tell me how much of a delay there is no matter where I am or my destination. There are no pop-ups (even though it's set to "manual" re-route and "show all traffic alerts"). "Automatic" reroute does nothing either ... and it's not because there are no better alternatives. If I use TomTom or Copilot on my iPhone I see the same traffic and both offer me better alternatives. The goal was to have something built into the car vs. a small phone screen that is distracting to use while driving. But seems like these $20-40 apps are 100x better than the $795 built-in nav. I would think I should be alerted of the traffic delay and given an alternative to accept or reject. Ideally it shows me the mileage and ETA difference as well. It could be the worst implementation of traffic in a nav (not out of the realm of possibility) or there's something else wrong -- I'm hoping the latter because I see all these promos about how the nav routes you around traffic delays. Markn455 Posted July 6, 2014 at 02:27 PM Report Share Posted July 6, 2014 at 02:27 PM I have now owned my Fusion Energy Titanium for 13 months. It has never rerouted me, ever. We drive our Jeep Grand Cherokee which uses the same service and it's not unusual to get rerouted once or twice a week at a minimum. It does seem that traffic information might be consider on Sync when initially building the route but beyond that, it does nothing that I can tell. Another note, The Jeep and the Fusion both use Traffic enabled Sirius. I have also noticed that traffic information is visible on a LOT more of the roads around Atlanta. The Fusion, just the interstate and the occasional state highway. MarkAtlanta
Markn455 Posted August 18, 2015 at 03:10 AM Report Share Posted August 18, 2015 at 03:10 AM Just passed two years on my 2013. The auto reroute feature is non functional. I have tried auto and manual and to my knowledge it does not reroute EVER. I assumed it was just more misleading feature claims. I can drive our Jeep and it consistently changes based on traffic. Works well. Mark
