Compact spare for energi

Do not have any ideas about the spare, but just out of curiosity what brand of tire did you have that had failures?  And did you hit a curb or something at speed? I can not remember the last time I had an issue with tire defects -- it was the 90s or 80s I think.

Maybe you got a bad batch of tires?

Tires are michelin A/V energy savers. I hit curbs at very very low speed, one backing into parking spot, and the other parallel parking. The impact was not great. The disturbing thing is I cannot trust car to take any trips out of my local area. NEVER DRIVE A CAR WITH NO SPARE!!!!!!!!! Ford shows their lack of concern by not offering some sort of compact spare, and yes, a doughnut will fit in trunk

Sorry you are having issues with your tires, Michelin tires are usually very reliable. Again maybe you had a bad set of tires, the dealer should be able to determine that.

If you hit curbs you will run the risk of damaging the sidewalls, that and road debris can cause failure. But this is not just a Ford issue, this is an industry decision: check out this edmunds article on the topic.  And the car does have the fix a flat system (which you probably should not use unless you are unable to contact roadside assistance (which they also provide)).

If they did put a spare in the trunk, how many would complain about even more lack of usable space? More or less than complain about the lack of a spare? Probably would have been a good idea to offer the donut tire as an option, I am sure many would have ticked off that choice.

Hopefully you found some useful information in the threads I linked above in your search for a spare. Good luck!
