Magnetic decal showing plugin logo

Hi. I have looked for a magnetic sticker to put on my FFE to indicate it is a plugin hybrid. I have found companies that will create such a thing but they are geared towards large quantities.

What I'd like to find is a small discrete magnetic sticker for the rear of my car that has the universal logo for a plugin car. I would love another one for the round charge port. Maybe the universal logo for electricity? If I can find the logos, I could take them to a local place that might make them into magnetic stick-ons for me. I'm also going to explore asking the national EAA club and Plugin America.

Has anyone found anything like that? If so, I'd love to know where they found them. Thanks.

I think a decal directly to the paint would be better.  Besides, the charge door doesn't seem heavy enough to be steel.  I like the decal in the links, but I think I'd like something that says HIGH VOLTAGE and has a lightning bolt or something!  People still don't know what the car is.  I had some crazy old dude on my rear bumper yesterday taking pictures with his "flip phone" and motioning for me to get out of the HOV lane with both hands.  Sigh...  Funniest part was there was a passenger who never even looked up from the book he was reading.

Hi Howardbc,

The magnet will not adhere to the trunk lid of the car. At least in my car, it seems to be made of either aluminum of plastic (plastic is more likely!).

Regards,

APM

Thanks, everyone. You're right. The cover over the charge port is either not metal or is aluminum with a plastic coating. Same with the trunk cover around the license plate. Stickers would be better.

On a tip from the EAA (Electric Auto Association), I found quite a few things on Cafe Press. One is an electric wall outlet image. They also have several of the plugin logos (green car attached to green plug). It's a little challenging to find what you want. But some good t-shirts and buttons too.

I have this door magnet that I sometimes use on the Energi while driving around town. I have noticed several people reading it which then bring attention to the charging port. Without the magnet the Energi is less noticed. I also have the charging port sticker on the vehicle that was mentioned by Eric4539.

I got the magnet from my dealer. They had them on their stock models.

I asked if I could have one and he said sure. I do not know how they got them.

I will measure the magnet and ask him where they got them.

Here is the door decal sticker. It was listed for the C-Max, but I measured and its the same size port door.

Thanks so much, FusionEnergi. If the door magnet isn't too large, I will ask my dealer about one. I don't want it to look like I'm a business selling something, but sure would like my car to stand out as being a little different.

I'm still baffled by friends and relatives that are almost hostile to anything that doesn't run just on gas. But mostly I get stony silence, so I don't even bring up the subject unless they ask - which is never. I know a lot of it is that they really don't understand what even a hybrid is. But you'd think they'd be curious. Especially since it would save them so much money on gas. Just putzing around town, I am getting almost 130mpg.

My dealer said they were sent to them from Ford, as promotion for the Energi's. I am surprised someone else hasn't seen them elsewhere.
Maybe most of them were thrown out by dealers not interested.
The magnet isnt too large, just takes up a small portion on the door. It measures 12 inches wide and 10m inches tall

  • 4 weeks later...

I applied the CafePress electric outlet graphic stickers to my car and they look good if you don't look too closely. Unfortunately I found out too late that I should have paid a professional to attach them. I thought “How hard can it be?” Ha. They are badly wrinkled and bubbled. No amount of rubbing is making it any better.

'Sorry - the photos aren't coming through.

I think you can just peel it off.  The stripes on my Boss 302 can be peeled off no problem.  Plus the AZ heat will help loosen up the glue.

Here's my friend Marty's 2011 GT500 with two large decals that were applied in the manner I described above.  Zero wrinkles but my other friend Michael is very experienced at applying Shelby decals!

'Sure wish I could post pictures of how the stickers look. I took them on my Android (SG3) cell phone and then sent them to my GMail address, but can't figure how how to copy/paste/move them to the forum. I put them on my PC's Desktop (Windows8) and then tried to drag them onto the forum. I've tried everything I can think of. Anyone have some simple instructions that might help? I am computer-literate but not a geek.

I use PhotoBucket.com and have probably a thousand pictures uploaded there.  When I browse to a picture I want to post, there is a little box with the forum codes ready to copy and paste along with the photo icon button above the box that we type our replies in.  I hope that makes sense.  I just went to dinner with the gf and folks and had a couple beers!  PM me for details if you want.
