vett93 Posted April 20, 2014 at 03:29 AM Report Share Posted April 20, 2014 at 03:29 AM How long does the 120V charger take to fully charge an empty HVB? Ford's website says about 7 hours. However, my 120V charger usually only takes 5 hours and 30 minutes to fully charge an empty HVB. So I am curious about your charge times. howardbc Posted April 20, 2014 at 04:00 AM Report Share Posted April 20, 2014 at 04:00 AM Mine only takes 5-6 hours too. That's with a standard 120v wall outlet.

Once the battery gets to about 25 remaining the engine will start to recharge it. This is why it only takes 5 to 6 hours to charge the battery. shaggy314 Posted April 23, 2014 at 06:51 PM Report Share Posted April 23, 2014 at 06:51 PM Figure 3-4 miles per hour 110, 9-11 mph on 220. Everything is an estimate as it is all about how may electrons need to be replaced (over simplified). You'd need to know the SOC (state of charge) for the rough estimate and then start in with things like temperature, heat loss, charge efficiency, etc. Also, empty is relative. Is that when EV only mode won't engage, hybrid mode, or anytime the display doesn't show miles to empty... that last 10% in hybrid mode is fluid. You could get home with anywhere from 1-10% and that impacts time. When asked I give the above quote. I notice that even MFM can be off on its estimate when the car will be done, so.... eh? shaggy314 Posted May 5, 2014 at 07:54 PM Report Share Posted May 5, 2014 at 07:54 PM Also, your car and the MFM app/web site with give you estimates every time you start a charge.
