JeffPrice Posted March 31, 2014 at 07:17 AM Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 at 07:17 AM Why would the nav system show the speed limit to be 74 MPH in a 75 MPH area. Also the maps of Las Vegas are about 3 years out of date.
murphy Posted March 31, 2014 at 09:33 AM Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 at 09:33 AM The maps are not up to date in spite of the advertising by HERE (Navteq) about how great they are. The main highway near my house has a speed limit of 45 mph. The map in the car lists it as 30 mph.
SteveEnergi Posted March 31, 2014 at 12:12 PM Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 at 12:12 PM So how do we know when new maps are available? For my Tom Tom, I receive an email twice a year about the new maps. Are our maps ever updated? Steve
blars Posted March 31, 2014 at 01:47 PM Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 at 01:47 PM I've noticed the 74mph image also...every other time I've seen a speed limit image though, it has been correct. Agree on the maps being out of date, too...I can't type in my home address (even though it's almost 3 years old). Google had it up a few months after the house was built (even though it showed the wrong location when typing in the address), and the subsequent "marker move" request only took a few days. shaggy314 Posted March 31, 2014 at 07:11 PM Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 at 07:11 PM (edited) You have to replace the SD card in your car (its the one in the center console, A4 or A5 is the version iirc. One imagines after 2-3 years it will be priced prohibitively expensive to update. Edited March 31, 2014 at 07:11 PM by shaggy314
FordIVTteam Posted April 3, 2014 at 01:04 AM Report Share Posted April 3, 2014 at 01:04 AM Hey everyone, I thought this would be a good thread to post this link on: http://here.com/mapcreator/This website will allow you to update information about your area if you notice that anything is out-of-date on your current maps. This helps improve future updates. I encourage you to check it out. So how do we know when new maps are available? For my Tom Tom, I receive an email twice a year about the new maps. Are our maps ever updated? Steve Hi Steve, When new maps are available for your vehicle, they will be posted at: www.Navigation.com Just select the year make and model to see what is available. If you have specific questions, you can contact a representative from HERE (formerly NavTeq) at: 888-628-6277 Kim
murphy Posted April 3, 2014 at 02:11 PM Report Share Posted April 3, 2014 at 02:11 PM I just pulled the A4 SD card from my car. Here are the contents of the version file. Region=NASubRegion=NA_UCVersion=A4Map=20120813 August 13, 2012 is about 1 year and 8 months ago. Garmin updates my GPS four times a year for free, well not really, mine is old enough that I had to buy the lifetime update subscription. I found my house on the HERE online map. The address is correct. It is totally wrong on the out of date map in my very expensive car. :gaah: There is no excuse for the address being wrong. My house has been there since 1957. blars Posted April 3, 2014 at 02:30 PM Report Share Posted April 3, 2014 at 02:30 PM Agreed. Honestly I wasn't set on getting navigation with a new vehicle, just because my wife has it in hers and it's $300 to get new maps for it, and my phone has better navigation software and up-to-date maps ABSOLUTELY FREE. No excuse to have ~2 year old maps on a brand new car.
