paladin732 Posted March 30, 2014 at 05:52 PM Report Share Posted March 30, 2014 at 05:52 PM Hey, Just picked up my new fully loaded titanium and noticed that the rear view mirror has a faint ghost of an image of a Barcode on it. It's only really visible from the drivers seat and significantly easier to see at night. Did anyone else notice this? How did you fix it if you had it. Attached is a really bad photo of it (really hard to see in the photo) Also: did anyone get really crappy mileage on electric at first? We have 400mi on it and a full charge only got us 12mi of electric going 70ish

Use EV Later on the highway and save the EV for city driving. dnorris78
Kybuck Posted March 30, 2014 at 06:40 PM Report Share Posted March 30, 2014 at 06:40 PM It's been a while, but my recollection is closer to 16-18 miles when going 70 on the freeway. That's typically with HVAC off though, if you're running the AC compressor or heater then 12 sounds more reasonable.
paladin732 Posted March 31, 2014 at 07:00 PM Author Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 at 07:00 PM (edited) The image of the barcode is a bit hard to see, its towards the bottom center... Anyone have something like this showing at an angle also? Edited March 31, 2014 at 07:01 PM by paladin732

Looks like a sticker was on it or something.Thats what I was thinking. Didn't budge with a cleaning cloth. I wasn't sure if it was safe to try Windex on it, since a lot of the autodimming rearview mirrors use chemicals to do the autodimming (or atleast my Mazda from 2003 did...) jza80 Posted March 31, 2014 at 10:17 PM Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 at 10:17 PM Costco sells a window cleaning foam that does not have vinegar or any harsh chemicals - that stuff works amazing and I have used it on auto-dimming mirrors with no ill effects. I forget the brand, it comes in a blue can.

Fat Fusion Posted April 1, 2014 at 11:38 PM Report Share Posted April 1, 2014 at 11:38 PM You should be able to tell if it's on the surface or under the glass. If it's under the glass Ford should replace it. Looks like a scuff on the substrate to me.

If it's under the glass Ford should replace it. Looks like a scuff on the substrate to me.Thats what I was thinking. I think it is actually below the surface. The problem is it seems somewhat illogical, cause if its something bleeding through from behind it should be reversed and not in the correct direction. I've tried scrubbing it and it doesnt budge, if it was sticker residue or some other residue, I am thinking it would atleast smudge or blur a little when scrubbing at it. I think I'll be taking the car into a dealer next week to have them take a looksy at it

paladin732 Posted April 23, 2014 at 05:37 AM Author Report Share Posted April 23, 2014 at 05:37 AM I tried going to a dealer and they were unable to see it (since you kind of had to be at a specific angle). I'll try another dealer. Were you able to get yours dealt with?

smokewagon Posted April 23, 2014 at 09:39 PM Report Share Posted April 23, 2014 at 09:39 PM My mirror has it to, I wondered why it was there, just learned to ignore it like a lot of other things on the roadways. smoke,
paladin732 Posted April 30, 2014 at 10:35 PM Author Report Share Posted April 30, 2014 at 10:35 PM Hi! I spoke with customer service who spoke with a technician. Apparently it is the sensor for the autodimming headlights. I wonder why it is an odd barcode instead of the old dot it used to be. Maybe more accurate?
