cinmar Posted March 28, 2014 at 11:38 PM Report Share Posted March 28, 2014 at 11:38 PM Hi there! My lease is up on my 2011 Nissan LEAF, so I leased a 2014 black Fusion Energi last week with tan leather interior. I have a short commute, and a young family. I loved my LEAF, but found it difficult to drive long distances without extensive planning, which is hard with toddlers in the car. I only put about 9,000 miles on my LEAF in 3 years! I had received one of the first 2,000 LEAFs in the U.S., so I'm pretty accustomed to the battery features, however, it's an adjustment only to have a 21-mile battery with the Energi. I've had the Energi a week, and seem to be trickle charging every other day, running only on EV around town and to/from work. I did have a modified 220 cord for the LEAF, but it just stopped working recently. With the smaller Energi battery, I don't really think the 220 vs. 110 as much of an issue, though. I did have my first negative with the Energi. The engine light came on, and it only has 290 miles so far. It's a bit of a hassle to bring it into the dealer to check it out, but I don't really have a choice. cinmarmy Energi is powered by 4.9 kWh SunPower PVs
blars Posted March 29, 2014 at 03:31 AM Report Share Posted March 29, 2014 at 03:31 AM Welcome to the sub 500 mile check engine light club. From what other members (and myself) have experienced, TSB 13-12-17 seems to resolve the issue.
pluggedin Posted March 29, 2014 at 01:37 PM Report Share Posted March 29, 2014 at 01:37 PM I had the "check engine" light come on a few months ago so I made an appointment to have my dealer check it out. By the time I got to the dealer though the light went out and I was told, by a Service Writer, that the car does not record (or store) a fault code so I would have to wait for the light to come on again and bring the car back. That was a bit irritating. The light has never come on again.
FormerFF Posted March 29, 2014 at 07:09 PM Report Share Posted March 29, 2014 at 07:09 PM Unless you have need to charge in the middle of the day, the 120 volt EVSE that comes with the car is plenty good, with one exception: if you are going to set a Go Time and will be heating the car a significant amount, the 120 volt EVSE won't be able to keep the battery charged. If you live in a mild climate this won't be an issue. Me, I get home after work with a nearly depleted battery and then need to make an 11 mile round trip to pick up my daughters in a couple of hours, so I can put the 240 volt EVSE to good use. It's a bit of a hassle to bring it into the dealer to check it out, but I don't really have a choice. Mine had 17miles on it and had some problems at first and it was determined the 12volt battery needed to be replaced. We have young kids as well, we noticed the stock charger wasn't charging fast enough for our needs as we sometimes go out multiple times on the weekends. CombsAuthor Posted May 9, 2014 at 05:46 AM Report Share Posted May 9, 2014 at 05:46 AM Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new Energi. One thing that will melt away is the "range anxiety" when you see that it will go 600+ miles on a full charge with a full tank of gas. I'm looking forward to reading your posts as your new miles unfold.
