Apogee1 Posted March 22, 2014 at 08:34 PM Report Share Posted March 22, 2014 at 08:34 PM I have a fully loaded Titanium Energi that I ordered from the factory, that said: I'm having issues with MyFord Mobile app. I can stand at the garage door which is inside the house 3 feet from my wireless router running at 100 megabits (fiber) and full bars on my iphone5 and the car is only 3 feet away, and doing even the most basic function like lock or unlock doors takes FOREVER and never seems to get processed. I have yet had it work once on anything, and I have stood there upwards of 15 minutes waiting for it to lock the doors. Anyone know what the heck is going on here? Secondly, why is none of the other options available to the app? Every one of these options have a red crossed out circle on it (meaning that it isn't available): Vehicle Locator, Vehicle Info, Change Settings, Key Personalization, Trip & Charge Log, Trends, News Feed, Local Rankings, Activity, Notification Settings, Battery Level Alert. I mean why have this app, if none of these functions are available? Am I missing something here? Thirdly, Why doesn't a command, like Start the Car command stay active if you happen to switch to a different screen? I mean on the Leaf App, once you do a command, it gets sent, and no matter what screen you go to that command happens. But not with MyFord Mobile. Anyone have any insights here as well? I thought that the Nissan App was limited and slow to respond, but compared to the MyFord App, it is a dream, that I wish MyFord Mobile could be. murphy Posted March 22, 2014 at 08:47 PM Report Share Posted March 22, 2014 at 08:47 PM It sounds like you didn't complete the registration. After you register on the web site you go to your car and acknowledge the message that appears on the center screen. Then you wait for 24 hours and acknowledge another message on the center screen. This is a security procedure to prevent someone from taking control of a car that they have test driven. It's best to do the registration using a computer at the myfordmobile web site. jeff_h and Hybridbear
Apogee1 Posted March 22, 2014 at 09:25 PM Author Report Share Posted March 22, 2014 at 09:25 PM It sounds like you didn't complete the registration. Oh I finished the reg. Because before it completed, I didn't get any options like remote start/lock/unlock.
blars Posted March 22, 2014 at 09:43 PM Report Share Posted March 22, 2014 at 09:43 PM You said vehicle locator, etc was crossed out...those options do not become available until registration is complete. Hence, you probably didn't complete the acknowledgement of the second in car prompt, which is why none of your mfm options work.
Kybuck Posted March 22, 2014 at 10:17 PM Report Share Posted March 22, 2014 at 10:17 PM I had a similar issue where options were crossed out on the Android app, even after completing the 24 hour confirmation. I think I went in and cleared the app data (uninstall/reinstall would probably do the same trick). The next time I opened the app and logged in, those options were no longer crossed out and worked properly.

Got it twice, and I know cause I thought it dumb to have to wait 24 hours for this process when the Leaf App was an instant access system. Before I completed both confirmations, I didn't have access to remote start/lock/unlock.

I'll give it a try, but this 24 cool down period really sucks.
Kybuck Posted March 23, 2014 at 07:06 PM Report Share Posted March 23, 2014 at 07:06 PM I didn't need to wait another 24 hours after clearing app data (unless you tried unregistering and re-registering the vehicle). If all those features work on the regular web version of MFM, they should work on the app once the data is cleared.
Synergi Posted August 15, 2014 at 07:37 AM Report Share Posted August 15, 2014 at 07:37 AM I have the same issue. I have loaded the app. Went through the first confirmation but 24 hours later, I don't get a prompt for the second confirmation when I am in the car with my phone. I have tried to delete the app and re-install it as well as re-register the car. I have even tried logging into the app after I start my car and before I start the car. I am using the IOS app. I only get access to the screen that shows that my car is charging and the last screen, where there is a circle with a cross going through all of the options except for Account and Vehicle Management. Any thoughts?
murphy Posted August 15, 2014 at 10:00 AM Report Share Posted August 15, 2014 at 10:00 AM You may have better luck initiating the process from the MFM website on a computer. Do not use the app until after the whole process has been completed. Even if initiated from the app the app should not be run again until after the second notification is received in the car. The communication is between the MFM web site and the AT&T data transceiver in your car. Park your car out in the open so it has a good signal from an AT&T cell tower. cmullins Posted August 19, 2014 at 09:43 PM Report Share Posted August 19, 2014 at 09:43 PM There's no question the iPhone application seems as though it was written by an Intern. It's one of the worst quality apps I've ever seen in the AppStore, and I'm continually surprised how bad it is. Of course, their web sites stink as well. This forum, for example, doesn't even render on IOS / Safari / iPhone, which is a joke unto itself. Car companies clearly write poor software, and then say "It's done" without caring any more for it. Kybuck Posted August 20, 2014 at 02:59 AM Report Share Posted August 20, 2014 at 02:59 AM You realize that this forum isn't an official Ford forum, right? If car companies wrote poor software, you car would constantly be rebooting and stalling out. As aggravating as the MFM website/software issues are, I'd rather their top programmers be focused on the software that keeps the car running seamlessly. cmullins Posted August 21, 2014 at 12:11 AM Report Share Posted August 21, 2014 at 12:11 AM I understand what you mean in that they don't own / run this, but from a Branding Perspective, it's certainly Ford's. The very name of the URL says so. At the very least, this site exists with their implicit blessing, else they would shut it down citing copyright violation. Any poor experience here does reflect directly on Ford.

I noticed as well that this site doesn't work in mobile view. The company that manages the forum is working on fixing it. All the other sites do work in the mobile theme and they're trying to figure out what is broken for this site. I have been quite happy with the MFM app. It's not perfect, but it does work reasonably well. The two issues I have with it are how it periodically signs me out even though I've set up a passcode. I think that this has to do with how I'm connecting to the internet, if I stay on LTE and avoid wifi then it doesn't sign me out. It seems like if it detects a new IP address or something it signs me out. The app for the local grocery store to have your coupons on your phone instead of paper was doing that too but then they released an update which fixed it. The other complaint is how sometimes the app with freeze on the passcode screen. To fix it I have to turn off my iPhone and turn it back on. Then I can enter my passcode and it will log me in. Many phones will allow the app to retain the PIN if you close it once you're done using it. Try closing the app completely next time and see if you notice a difference :). Thanks for the explanation. Closing the app completely means double tapping the home button on my iPhone and then swiping the app away? As Kim mentions, that then allows you to use the passcode after reopening the app. Edited September 12, 2014 at 08:32 PM by Energized

Energized Posted September 12, 2014 at 06:47 PM Report Share Posted September 12, 2014 at 06:47 PM After using this app for a year and a half, I give the app two thumbs up. The app provides the info I want and does it in a straight forward manner. Hybridbear

Keep in mind that I have a Galaxy S4 and I'm very far from being an iPhone expert ;). Kim
