Randy Novak Posted March 21, 2014 at 12:27 PM Report Share Posted March 21, 2014 at 12:27 PM Taking delivery on our 2014 Fusion Energi SE today. Trading in our 2014 Fusion for it. Just made financial sense to take the plunge into plug in Hybrid. That and the styling on the 2014 is just a notch above the 2012 model. Looking forward to tooling around Atlanta with the new vehicle.
CombsAuthor Posted March 21, 2014 at 01:53 PM Report Share Posted March 21, 2014 at 01:53 PM Congrats! It's a different world but since you've done your homework you'll really enjoy the diversity of the Energi. We use the Hybrid system as the back-up to the EV system and as a result are showing 215+ mpg on the dash.
Randy Novak Posted March 21, 2014 at 02:25 PM Author Report Share Posted March 21, 2014 at 02:25 PM Thanks CombsAuthor ! We're planning on using EV for most of our driving with the Fusion, so we're hoping to see something like your MPG. Doing research on EVSEs for the garage next. Eric4539 Posted March 21, 2014 at 03:21 PM Report Share Posted March 21, 2014 at 03:21 PM Congratulations on your new Energi! If your 2012 was the gas engine Fusion then the Energi will save you bunches at the pump. For me, any savings is great but isn't looking good in a beautiful car just as important? :)
Randy Novak Posted March 21, 2014 at 03:31 PM Author Report Share Posted March 21, 2014 at 03:31 PM Yeah the 2012 is a Gas powered and with gas hitting in the mid $3 range here in GA, the cost savings will be significant. And I agree that having a beautiful, well designed, comfortable car is as, if not more, important. 90 minutes until we pick the new car up.... and counting
Gigi Posted March 21, 2014 at 05:15 PM Report Share Posted March 21, 2014 at 05:15 PM When I got our Energi in November, I used existing wiring and breaker to put in a 3.8kW EVSE. After falling in love with driving on electricity, we added a Focus Electric to our household. Now, on my list of things to do is to upgrade my wiring and breaker so that I can change out the 3.8kW unit for a 7.2kW EVSE, which will charge the Focus more quickly. If you think there might be any chance of adding an electric to your household anytime in the future, you might consider wiring for and installing the more powerful EVSE now. A unit that is more powerful than you need presently could come in handy later. Enjoy your new car. Atlanta is a great place for EV driving.
