Neil Posted February 26, 2014 at 04:30 PM Report Share Posted February 26, 2014 at 04:30 PM I was curious about how charging the Fusion was impacting my electric bill, so I pulled my monthly electric bills since 2008 and did a comparison. I have only had the Fusion since 8/2013, so I only compared those 7 months. Interestly enough my bill only increased $8.63/month on average over the 7 months. Year August September October November December January February 2013/2014 236.43 162.54 193.10 97.64 126.97 130.65 137.20 Months with the Fusion 2012/2013 279.62 247.00 152.73 90.20 124.58 115.61 144.79 Without the Fusion (Previous Years) 2011/2012 315.61 268.81 138.17 81.54 111.64 106.45 98.35 2010/2011 290.24 204.38 166.32 108.33 90.03 129.71 121.90 2009/2010 224.59 288.42 147.96 109.06 110.78 128.08 113.41 2008/2009 202.35 227.25 105.10 111.06 140.26 131.

Gigi Posted February 26, 2014 at 04:51 PM Report Share Posted February 26, 2014 at 04:51 PM (edited) It costs me on average less than 3¢ per mile to drive on electricity whether in the Energi or the Focus Electric. It costs me 7.5¢ per mile to drive the Energi in hybrid mode at current gas prices. My F-150 is another matter, about 22¢ per mile around town and 17¢ per mile on the highway. The impact on our electric bill of our two cars driving all or mostly on electricity is small in comparison with what we were spending on gas for a Honda Odyssey and an F-150. We used to spend more than $7,000 a year on gasoline. With a couple of long trips in the Energi planned for this year and a lot of running back and forth to the Home Depot and the Garden Center in the F-150 included, I expect that our cost for electricity and gas for all three vehicles will be less than $2,000 for the year. The difference covers more than half of what we are making in car payments on two new cars. SteveEnergi Posted February 26, 2014 at 07:57 PM Report Share Posted February 26, 2014 at 07:57 PM My bill is up about $30 a month; a dollar a day isn't that bad for two full charges and one partial (about 30 minute) charge.
Gigi Posted February 26, 2014 at 08:28 PM Report Share Posted February 26, 2014 at 08:28 PM I don't have a WattHour meter to measure actual usage devoted to the cars. My estimate is $59 in the winter and $85 in the summer between home and office to charge two cars to go a total of 2,000 miles per month. I'm lucky enough to be able to charge for free at work. I work 27 miles (each way) from home, so I burn one charge going to work, and another full charge going home. dnorris78
larryh Posted February 26, 2014 at 09:38 PM Report Share Posted February 26, 2014 at 09:38 PM The electric company meters the electricity for the car separately. My bill last month for the car was $18.43 including lots of preconditioning with temperatures well below zero. jeff_h
shaggy314 Posted February 28, 2014 at 08:20 PM Report Share Posted February 28, 2014 at 08:20 PM Same for me, about $30 more electricity, but $110 less in gas a month.
