When/how should I be notified of scheduled maintenance?

I have 5800 miles on my 2013 Ford Fusion Energi now. I was expecting to get a notice around 5k miles that I would need to take my car in for regular scheduled maintenance, but I haven't received a notice via Sync or email or snail mail.

The car is running great. It recently sat for 5+ days because I was sick but it cranked right up just fine (no 12v problems) when I finally was able to take it out for a spin. And my Lifetime Summary just hit 80.4 MPG.

Maybe the notice of required maintenance comes via MyFordMobile app, but I have been neglecting it for some time. I had it on my Android phone. But I just downloaded/installed the newest version and it is working great so far. Am so pleased to be able to lock my car remotely, even though I'm sure this feature has always been available. Sometimes I will park and go into a store or restaurant and then wonder if I locked the car. It's very nice to have this ability.

I did look in the owner's manual for anything about scheduled maintenance, but it sounded like I am supposed to be notified via Sync. I haven't seen it. Or is there some kind of an icon that pops up on one's dash?

Thanks.

"Your vehicle is equipped with the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor® system, which displays a message in the information display at the proper oil change interval. This interval may be up to two years or 20000 miles "

The key phrase is "may be up to" two years.

It depends on the number of EV miles vs the number of miles the engine was propelling the car. The more EV miles the longer the oil will last. Other things factor in as week, such as the number of cold starts.

For an idea of how your oil life is doing, there is an oil life indicator in one of the menus on the screen to the left of the speedometer. It will indicate the percentage of oil life left. It starts at 100% and declines down to 0%

One downside to such long intervals in oil changes is that it takes away from my routine on tire rotation.

Remember that it is still necessary to rotate the tires 5,000 to 10,000 miles (I prefer to do it more often). I use to do this at the same time of the oil change (every 5,000).

I am also not sure that I will let the oil stay in the car more than a year, even though I know that they use a synthetic blend. I can not find any time lines on how long synthetic oils should last. I have always used 6 months for traditional oils.

Is there any way to find out how many miles have been driven just on electric?

From the Owner's Manual

Lifetime Summary:

• Distance - The distance traveled on

battery power only (EV distance) and

Regen distance are displayed. Regen

distance is the estimated range gained

from energy recaptured through

regenerative braking.

• Energy Use - Average fuel economy.

• Brake Score - The average percentage

of braking energy recaptured and

returned to the high voltage battery

through regenerative braking.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but the EV distance displayed includes the EV distance driven while in hybrid mode, not just the distance driven in EV only mode.

If you calculate mpg of gasoline by subtracting EV distance from total miles and dividing by the number of gallons used, it is a horrifyingly low figure because it does not include the EV miles that are a part of driving as a normal hybrid.
