frbill Posted February 18, 2014 at 06:49 PM Report Share Posted February 18, 2014 at 06:49 PM First off I still love my Fusion Energi. That being said I have noticed something rather odd of late with the vehicle. Take my drive into work today. I have a 12 mile commute that today used 48.5% of the battery (MFM showed 51.5% remaining) I checked a couple of hours later to see if the % had dropped (Would I need a charge to get home?) and found that it went from 51.5 to 45.5%. This is a 6% drop from merely sitting. The Temps today are in the high 50's so this is not cold related. This is a fairly common experience for me especially if there is a 8-15 mile drive. If I under 8 or over 15 I don't see as large a drop. Anybody else had this experience? Is this something I should be concerned with? I generally have a place to charge at both ends of most of my trips so this has not been a problem, but there are days when I really have to Hypermile to make a return trip because of the drop in charge level. Speaking of Charging, have to go move the car to get a charge so I can get home. Thanks in advance for any feedback Peace, Father Bill mmmhmmmm
Rexracer Posted February 18, 2014 at 11:49 PM Report Share Posted February 18, 2014 at 11:49 PM With my commute i always end up burning some gas, so I really havent watched that closely. I will try to pay attention to charge leve from parking to getting back in.
mmmhmmmm Posted February 23, 2014 at 08:48 PM Report Share Posted February 23, 2014 at 08:48 PM I have noticed this as well, but my observations were via the Guess-O-Meter. When I roll out of work the vehicle typically shows 2-4 miles less than when I arrived. Not scientific by any means, but I'll pay more attention to the battery % now. I'm happy to lend a hand; PM me your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info. I'll have your regional customer service manager reach out with more info. Russael Posted February 24, 2014 at 07:46 PM Report Share Posted February 24, 2014 at 07:46 PM Question - do you leave your climate system on when you turn off your car? If so, it does require more battery energy to bring you back to comfort which reduces your range estimate once you turn the car back on. If you turn your climate off and then hop in and restart the car and then the range is different... not sure about that.

I precondition the car and then endure the elements. I rarely use the climate system.
murphy Posted February 25, 2014 at 11:01 AM Report Share Posted February 25, 2014 at 11:01 AM If the ambient temperature where the car is parked drops significantly after the car is parked the battery capacity will also drop. All batteries lose capacity when they get very cold.
