Interior 110V Accessory Outlet Loose - others?

We took a road trip this weekend with 3 teens in the back, thought we were good to go with keeping their non-stop mobile devices charged since we have that 110V accessory outlet there in the back seat.  We got a couple hundred miles down the road and the word from the back is 'hey this plug doesn't work'... great.  I said well not much I can do about it now, and somehow they survived even when one of their device batteries didn't.

So when I got home I checked it out for myself, and the green light is lit to indicate that there is power, and I can at times get power to the clock radio I used for testing, however the problem is that the plug fits so loosely in there that it doesn't maintain electrical contact hardly at all.   I then went and checked my wife's Energi and it seems fine, and the difference seems to be that the outlet in my car is lacking the internal springs that would provide tension/grip against the prongs of the device, or that the springs are in there but hung up and not clamping down at all.

So I'll make an appt to have it checked out and fixed/replaced, but I'm wondering if others have experienced any issues with the prongs not being held in place properly?

Thanks

Jeff

Thanks Jeff,

If I would have read your post sooner I could have had this also addressed when I was in the shop today.

I checked the 110 accessory outlet with the car in accessory mode( not on). The green light was on until I would plug the phone in, then the green light would go out and no charge would be given. Then I put the car in the ready to run mode and the 110 plug worked just fine, except for the fact it doesnt stay in well. If I was driving the vibration could have easily popped the charger loose.

Looks like mine needs fixed too. I will bring it up when they call me to correct the tank noise.

Thanks - my 2010 FFH had the twisting 110V accessory outlet, and that held great.  The 2013 FFH had the same type of outlet as the Energi does but seemed to hold things in better.  Funny thing is that I also have a power inverter that plugs into the lighter but left it home since I only take it on trips where we will have a rental car, but it's definitely coming along as a backup now, even after I have the dealer look at this one and hopefully order a replacement outlet or find that the spring mechanism was somehow stuck,

Added - went to dealer and they confirmed it's not working correctly, have ordered a replacement outlet and I'll take it back for installation once the part arrives.
