dnorris78 Posted February 16, 2014 at 12:20 AM Report Share Posted February 16, 2014 at 12:20 AM New Fusion Energi SE / 707 miles ... So far I am disappointed with avg MPG and range. I am getting high 90's avg on regen and driver scores of 90. I have to admit most of the driving has been highway - long trips. My commute to work is 15 miles and I am pressuring my company to install L2 charging. My commute should be all EV mode. Any advice on how to get my range longer and higher MPG? Do I need to expect lower numbers during thr break in period? mmmhmmmm
meyersnole Posted February 16, 2014 at 01:07 AM Report Share Posted February 16, 2014 at 01:07 AM (edited) I think you will find more of what you are looking for in the Fuel Mileage section, so I am going to move this thread there. For starters, look at the thread on Cold Weather Driving with energi and Real World MPG Edited February 16, 2014 at 01:09 AM by meyersnole
mmmhmmmm Posted February 23, 2014 at 09:30 PM Report Share Posted February 23, 2014 at 09:30 PM I'm can definitely relate. This week we had warmer weather and the fuel economy improved a good bit. I'm up over 60mpg. My commute is 36 miles one way with no EV charger at work. You can really boost e-range, and therefore mpg, by reducing the climate control. Both the cabin water heater and the air conditioner use a lot of battery power.

I am up to 70 mpg now. My commute is 14 miles one way. Now that the weather has moderated, I am not using climate control at all in the AM on the way to work, except to defrost if needed. No reply yet to my request at work for a L2 charging station. Our company HQ has them and the company supports green initiatives all the time. I am trying to guilt them into putting them in at my location. meyersnole

Did you happen to see the form letter pinned in the Batteries and Charging section? http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/1428-request-for-installation-of-charging-stations-letter/?p=8897 Unfortunately, that might need to be re-written now as I think the tax credit for the chargers was not renewed. kacalapy Posted March 4, 2014 at 07:16 PM Report Share Posted March 4, 2014 at 07:16 PM im also disapointed in the mpg i see. even on a little incline the gas engine gets under 20mpg. with numbers like this youve got to be in EV mode 90+% of the time to even get close to 100 MPGe. I also drive about 35 miles one way and dont charge at work. my avg was about 55mpg past couple days.
viajero Posted March 5, 2014 at 04:45 AM Report Share Posted March 5, 2014 at 04:45 AM even on a little incline the gas engine gets under 20mpg. Even a little incline makes a big difference. To get a valid mpg number for the gas engine, you need to make a round trip so all the ups and downs even out.
tseibel76 Posted March 5, 2014 at 03:50 PM Report Share Posted March 5, 2014 at 03:50 PM Filled with gas for the first time on Sunday (Mar. 2nd). I took delivery on 10/14/13. 140 days (of ND winter bliss) and 2,941 miles later, I put 12.02 gallons of gas in. 244.67 MPG and 96 MPGe. I love this car. I can't wait to see what I can do with tank #2 once it warms up in a month or so. jeff_h
shaggy314 Posted March 5, 2014 at 07:29 PM Report Share Posted March 5, 2014 at 07:29 PM I hear you, my numbers plummeted below 50 degrees. I went from 250 MPG to barely 200 (poor me). I get to charge at work. We don't really need a L2 as your car will charge up on L1 nicely during the work day. My one way is 19 miles so I usally do not make to work on battery but unless I 'hotdog it' make it with 3-5 miles left on the trip home.
