7277 Posted February 14, 2014 at 08:36 AM Report Share Posted February 14, 2014 at 08:36 AM Sorry to say I found out just how safe the Fusion Energi is. Head on collision on the freeway at 50mph (him, I slammed on my breaks and was slowing down.) He somehow managed to get in the carpool lane going the wrong way and didn't seem to notice until he ran right into me. I walked away with a broken wrist and my thirteen year old son in the passenger had no physical injuries at all. I had just traded up from a CRZ we had been using for carpool. Thank God. CHP could not believe we survived. Hopefully you will never find out but good to know how safe it is. Now I'm looking for a 2014 for replacement. Any ideas on how to get best price, since I am losing some in the insurance payout (just bought it in October),

Russael Posted February 14, 2014 at 01:14 PM Report Share Posted February 14, 2014 at 01:14 PM Cars are leaps and bounds safer than they were even just 10 years ago. Unless you run into a wall at 100MPH, the likelihood of survival is considerably better. I've more or less started to judge how safe a car is by number of injuries now. Considering you have a broken wrist and nothing more impresses me, while your son got to walk away impresses me even more. In regards to bargains on a 2014... as far as I know, there's only the Ford incentive, which is a whopping 500 bucks [/sarcasm]. The 2013's when they first came out had a 1500 incentive for pretty much the entire time they were available. Bear in mind though that the Energi models did undergo a price drop of about 4k from the 2013 models, so the retail price is lower. And I believe you can once again claim the federal tax credit, as I don't recall seeing a limit on how many times you can claim that. Aside from that, besides it being so early in the year, you may not find too many dealers who are willing to haggle on the price. If price is a deal breaker, you could try to find some leftover 2013 models... those should be marked down significantly.

Gigi Posted February 14, 2014 at 02:23 PM Report Share Posted February 14, 2014 at 02:23 PM So glad to hear that you were not more seriously hurt and that your son is okay. Best wishes for healing and rehab on your wrist. After watching my wife go through that for a broken wrist, I would hold out for compensation for pain and suffering. It looks like the Fusion did what it is supposed to do, cushion the blow. Amazing. FusionEnergi Posted February 14, 2014 at 03:36 PM Report Share Posted February 14, 2014 at 03:36 PM Sorry to hear that you were in a collision .You were safer in the fusion than in a crz for sure. jeff_h

All the best to you and your son. I hope you can get another FFE soon. jeff_h
Rexracer Posted February 14, 2014 at 10:39 PM Report Share Posted February 14, 2014 at 10:39 PM (edited) wow glad you are safe.Probably no big deals on 2014s, but due to the price decrease they are pretty comparable to the 2013s when they are on sale. Seattle may still have some 2013 models in stock, so worth checking out.Sound Ford near Seatac Airport has 8x 2013s still. Thats where I got mine, 10k off MSRP plus i get the tax rebate, they are listed closer to 11k off currently on their own site. My sales guy Ben bouyahmed was fantastic, let me know if you want his contact info. Edited February 14, 2014 at 10:41 PM by Rexracer
TujuMaster Posted February 15, 2014 at 04:44 AM Report Share Posted February 15, 2014 at 04:44 AM First of all, I'm sorry to hear about your accident but I'm glad you and your son could walk away from it. Second, did you get GAP insurance? You should see if you got that at purchase from your dealer. I rolled GAP into my cost and my insurance provider also offers it at no additional cost. It helps in cases like this to get a new vehicle.
CombsAuthor Posted February 15, 2014 at 05:17 AM Report Share Posted February 15, 2014 at 05:17 AM Amazing! Glad you are okay. I was just in a discussion yesterday on how safe cars are today versus just ten years ago in spite of their reduced weight and mass. It will be great to see the pictures of your new Energi and we wish you a quick and easy recovery.
