Charge Port Door

Is anyone having problem with their charge port door. Mine is stuck and I can't get it open. It happened on one of the coldest day we are having on the East Coast. Is this a coincidence? Any thoughts or trick on getting it open. Thanks.

I have been having trouble with mine for the last few weeks. It started getting hard to open and just today it started not closing all the way. I'm hoping it gets better when the weather gets a bit warmer, if not I guess its time for another trip to the dealer.

Have you or anyone else rotated the door by hand?

That can damage the latching mechanism.

A quick update. I initially tried to warm the port door with a hair dryer. Thinking maybe it's frozen shut. It didn't work. I had just closed it 25 minutes ago from an unheated garage at work before coming home. I gave up trying to open it. Overnight temp got down to 3F. The next morning, the port door popped up but did not 'spin' open. I was able turn it open.

IMHO the charge port door seems to be one of the cheap things on this car, I mean it works OK but looking at long term wise getting used twice a day it looks like a problem down the road.

Why didn't they just use another door just like the fuel door then you wouldn't have to design a whole new component to begin with also I would be more comfortable if it locked close just like the fuel door.

Since I'm charging up around twice per day, I worry about the fancy door breaking. I hope, if it is going to fail, it will do it while in warranty. I'd have rather had the Volt door (like a fuel door release) or even the Leaf's pop up (like the gas door). Not sure the reason behind the fancy rotate and click. What is it's rated MTBF?
