mmmhmmmm Posted December 15, 2013 at 04:38 AM Report Share Posted December 15, 2013 at 04:38 AM (edited) I did a little research on the Fusion Energi I recently bought and found photos and videos of it's glory days this summer as a Nascar pace car. I don't follow Nascar, but this is pretty cool! Earlier this year my car paced the 2013 Quicken Loans 400 and Pure Michigan 400 at the Michigan International Speeday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv-llNpUZis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2ylwoTu5bU http://www.quickenloans.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/MIS-Pacecar.jpg The vinyl wrap and strobe lights have been removed and the car is returned to a fuel-sipping, normal life although every once in a while I find small vinyl tidbits (white, light blue, or...tonight's dark blue) stuck in cracks, seams, and corners! I never would have pictured a Fusion Energi as a pace car. I wonder if it did the pace lap in EV mode! howardbc Posted December 15, 2013 at 04:03 PM Report Share Posted December 15, 2013 at 04:03 PM I remember seeing an article in the Spring about the FFE pace car in Michigan and so I made a point of watching the beginning of the race, although I'm no longer much of a NASCAR fan. I was disappointed that they barely mentioned the make/model of the car, far less explained that it is a plugin hybrid. Or maybe I missed it. All I know is that the powers-that-be appear to have missed an opportunity to educate the public about hybrids and plugins. Why am I not surprised?
