Fat Fusion Posted December 5, 2013 at 03:56 AM Report Share Posted December 5, 2013 at 03:56 AM PG&E has some cool tools to show costs by hour of the day. This is my new EV-A plan. As you can see, I used my energy in such a manner as to send a subtle message to the power company via an electronic hand gesture. :drop: Weekday Rates hike in the evening. See last image for times. Weekend As you can see, I charged twice on the weekend day. See how my rates almost triple on the weekend afternoon? Rate Times
mmmhmmmm Posted December 5, 2013 at 04:29 AM Report Share Posted December 5, 2013 at 04:29 AM (edited) Nice! :hysterical: (although gas stations are probably more deserving!) Edited December 5, 2013 at 04:31 AM by mmmhmmmm
larryh Posted December 5, 2013 at 10:09 AM Report Share Posted December 5, 2013 at 10:09 AM (edited) Are the bars showing the total cost for electricity usage during each hour? And the colors indicate the rate? I assume this is total electricity usage for the entire house. Those are high rates. My normal, fixed rate is $0.10144 / kWh for my home. I also have a separately metered circuit for the charging station with the following rates: June-August Weekday Weekend and Holidays9 pm - 8 am 5.85 ¢ 5.85 ¢8 am - 4 pm 11.544 ¢ 5.85 ¢ 4 pm - 9 pm 37.85 ¢ 5.85 ¢ Other Months Weekday Weekend and Holidays9 pm - 8 am 5.85 ¢ 5.85 ¢ 8 am - 4 pm 10.144 ¢ 5.85 ¢ 4 pm - 9 pm 37.85 ¢ 5.85 ¢ Edited December 5, 2013 at 11:37 AM by larryh
Fat Fusion Posted December 5, 2013 at 01:11 PM Author Report Share Posted December 5, 2013 at 01:11 PM Yep you read it correctly upon your edit. I changed over from a tiered system based on usage. Of course the rates are high I live in CA! Everything is more expensive here.
SD Diver Posted December 6, 2013 at 07:57 PM Report Share Posted December 6, 2013 at 07:57 PM Hey FF - try living in San Diego and getting raped by SDG&E! I'm now on their EVTOU-2 plan. Every day peak is noon to 6 pm and costs .29/kWh. Super off-peak is midnight to 5 am and costs .16/kWh. The remaining 13 hours are off-peak at .19 prior to this plan, I was paying .36 at my usual tier-4 prices. These are the newly increased rates as of September. Now they want to increase again! Fat Fusion Posted December 8, 2013 at 03:53 AM Author Report Share Posted December 8, 2013 at 03:53 AM Is that the result of San Onofre nuclear plant going offline?
SD Diver Posted December 9, 2013 at 07:23 AM Report Share Posted December 9, 2013 at 07:23 AM Not yet. They are trying to wrap that into the next increase. Oh - and they are still trying to move the costs not covered by insurance for the 2007 Witch Creek fire to the customers vs stockholders
