asimsiddiqi Posted November 27, 2013 at 02:44 AM Report Share Posted November 27, 2013 at 02:44 AM (edited) I bought a brand new 2013 Fusion Energi a few days ago from my local dealership. Ever since I drove it all that I get in the right panel are the efficiency leaves. There are no other options in the menu. No navigation, no phone, no climate. Everything works fine on the left panel, and on the main 8-inch LCD screen. I took it in to the dealership service department and they were stumped as well. They said they would look into it and call me back. Has anyone experienced this issue before? Also I only get 15 miles on a full charge of the battery. It says 100% full, yet the range is 15 miles. Is this normal? I thought it would be 20. Edited November 27, 2013 at 03:04 AM by asimsiddiqi

But in regards to the range, the car will calculate expected mileage based on driving history. If you drive the car hard and drain the HVB quickly it will give you fewer miles at the next charge. If you manage a drive that gently uses the HVB and is very economical then you will see an increase in the expected miles at your next charge. You will get to know this better as you drive the car. One other note, with the onset of winter the HVB will be less effective due to the cold. Enjoy the vehicle and check out the info on this site for improving mileage improvement. Russael Posted November 27, 2013 at 03:11 AM Report Share Posted November 27, 2013 at 03:11 AM (edited) Welcome to the boards and your new Energi. :) As an addendum to frbill, using climate (ie - heat or A/C specifically) will significantly reduce forecasted range. As an example, I've only had the car since the end of May and had predicted ranges of up to 33 without climate, and about 24 with A/C. With current temps in my area below freezing, my predicted range is about 22, and 15 with heat. As the car learns your commute and how you drive, it will adjust accordingly. As far as your issue with the right screen... that's a new one. Hopefully all they'll need to do is just 'reboot' the car and it'll be fine. I assume you're using the right arrow pad to try to see the other options in that screen, but if you took it to the dealer and they see the same thing, then they have some fixing to do. asimsiddiqi Posted November 27, 2013 at 03:18 AM Author Report Share Posted November 27, 2013 at 03:18 AM Thanks for the info on the range! I do drive it a bit hard so that explains it. Love it so far though! Hoping someone can help me figure out this instrument panel problem.

The only option there is Help, other than the efficiency leaves which it shows by default. The dealer tried resetting the software from the main LCD panel but that didn't make a difference. They said they'll do some research and call me tomorrow with an update.
howardbc Posted November 27, 2013 at 04:14 AM Report Share Posted November 27, 2013 at 04:14 AM Welcome to the forum, asimsiddiqi. I prefer the Efficiency Leaves on the right side of the display in front of the steering wheel. The only other thing I've ever seen in that area is when I get a phone call or a text. So far, I am getting 22-44 miles from the battery. It really depends on how/where you drive. Choose one of the 3 EV selections (EV Now, EV Auto, EV Later) depending on what your normal commute is. My trips are usually around 25-30 miles, so I'm using mostly EV Now at this point. Remember you will essentially create your own energy/miles by braking slowly/sensibly. Look for the swirl over the battery icon and then the blue circle telling you how much of the braking energy you have recouped. Enjoy your car! asimsiddiqi Posted December 4, 2013 at 02:39 AM Author Report Share Posted December 4, 2013 at 02:39 AM They fixed the issue and I now see Phone, Navigation, Climate, Entertainment and the leaves options in the right panel area. They ran an EEC test and that pulled code B1380. They diagnosed that as "bad right steering wheel buttons". I believe they had to depower the airbag system, remove drivers airbag, replace the switch pack, and reinstall everything. All of that had to be done just for replacing some faulty buttons, but I'm glad they got to the bottom of it. Works great now. I love the fact that the navigation shows the next turn coming up in the right panel, and that you can adjust the temperature from there too. Russael Posted December 4, 2013 at 03:25 AM Report Share Posted December 4, 2013 at 03:25 AM (edited) I usually just keep the efficiency leaves there since all the other functions are available from the center stack, but I do use the turn-by-turn navigation in that screen pretty often too. However, I have seen on an occasion where the instrument cluster said to turn left while the center stack said to stay right. That was interesting. :) Glad your issue got fixed though.
