Hardp Posted November 18, 2013 at 02:58 PM Report Share Posted November 18, 2013 at 02:58 PM This morning, when I locked my car and then touched the driver's side door handle, it instantly unlocked. I tired it with both the door key pad and my remote fob. What's going on?
murphy Posted November 18, 2013 at 03:06 PM Report Share Posted November 18, 2013 at 03:06 PM If you have Intelligent Access keys that is the way it is supposed to work. If the IA key is within 3 feet of the car putting your hand on any door handle will unlock the car. It's also what makes the pushbutton beside the license plate light open the trunk. Read the chapter on Locks in your Owner's Manual.
Hardp Posted November 18, 2013 at 04:22 PM Author Report Share Posted November 18, 2013 at 04:22 PM Ah. Thank you. I assume that if the Intelligent Access key is inside the vehicle, then the automatic unlock feature doesn't work because I frequently leave it in the center console and lock the car from the outside using the keypad and it stays locked. sgcole Posted August 9, 2014 at 10:51 PM Report Share Posted August 9, 2014 at 10:51 PM Related to this...Is there any way to leave the keyfob in the car, and then lock/unlock the car from the keypad? I would like to leave fob in car when I go for my morning jog...Could not find this in the manual. Thanks.
Eric4539 Posted August 9, 2014 at 11:43 PM Report Share Posted August 9, 2014 at 11:43 PM I have never tried that but I don't see why it wouldn't work. But I used the MFM app on my iPhone once to unlock my car when the fob was in my jacket pocket in the trunk.
murphy Posted August 9, 2014 at 11:45 PM Report Share Posted August 9, 2014 at 11:45 PM Wrap the FOB in several folds of aluminum foil and the car will not be able to detect it.
