murphy Posted November 15, 2013 at 01:22 AM Report Share Posted November 15, 2013 at 01:22 AM Disconnect the plug using your left hand and immediately close the door with your right hand before you walk away to put the charging plug away.Since I started doing this I have not left the door open at all. howardbc
howardbc Posted November 15, 2013 at 02:09 AM Report Share Posted November 15, 2013 at 02:09 AM I may have left the charging port door open a couple of times when I first got the car, but now I do exactly what murphy proposes and it works great. Russael Posted November 15, 2013 at 03:52 AM Report Share Posted November 15, 2013 at 03:52 AM I've done it twice when I first took delivery and haven't done it since. Before I put my charging cord away, I immediately close the door. It's just a matter of getting in to a routine. :)

Dag Posted November 15, 2013 at 09:11 PM Report Share Posted November 15, 2013 at 09:11 PM I keep thinking its opening by itself.....
Neil Posted November 18, 2013 at 05:54 PM Report Share Posted November 18, 2013 at 05:54 PM I leave it open over 50% of the time. Left it open in the rain a couple of times too. I haven;t seen anything in the Manual about that, but I'm sure it can;t be good. has anyone else charged their car outside while it was raining? Is there anything from Ford about doing that? FusionEnergi Posted November 18, 2013 at 09:15 PM Report Share Posted November 18, 2013 at 09:15 PM I once was charging the vehicle away from home. While the car was charging, and I was in another location it began to pour the rain. I unplugged and wiped out the charging port the best I could, then traveled home slightly worried. The next day the vehicle had not received its charge even though i had plugged it in. I had not confirmed the blue glowing light ring before I turned in for the night, so I can not tell you much more other than the next time I plugged it in it charged just fine. This incident happened shortly after I took delivery of the Energi. I have not had any further charging issues.
shaggy314 Posted November 20, 2013 at 08:30 PM Report Share Posted November 20, 2013 at 08:30 PM I USED to be convinced the door opened by itself, but that stopped after the first month or so that I'm sure it was me.
