Moving in from a C-Max Hybrid

Hi all! I have been over at fordcmaxhybridforum for the past six months of C-max ownership. I had a nagging 12 volt charging problem that was never adequately addressed. After having to jump the thing a dozen times I just had it. I went to the dealer looking for something else and I found a Fusion Energi SE with the same color and mostly the same options as my C-Max. I have been reading about the Energi line of vehicles and did not see any chronic system failures so I thought it might work out. The Tax Credit erases the hit I took on trading in the C-Max. So far I am loving the vehicle. I can't wait until MFM is fully operational. I got the car delivered at 6:20 CST last evening. I guess sometime around then MFM will activate in full mode.

It is about 25 miles for my daily commute so the EV range of the Energi seems to be a perfect fit. That was until I discovered that there is a free community charging station at the City Hall behind the school I am Chaplain at. Now it is unbelievably perfect. I fill up EV at home then top off at City Hall. I will be taking my first extended trip this afternoon so I will play with the EV button. I look forward to getting involved in this forum. I was a bit of a mileage nerd over at the C-Max forum, I suspect it is going to get worse  ;).  Thanks in advance for any heads up that I get.

Peace,

Father Bill

Welcome!  There is a thread or two here about 12v batteries going dead, and in Mark's case they eventually found a crimped/exposed/etc wire in the trunk (I think near the hinge IIRC?) that was causing it, it's since been fixed and is now good.  I wonder if your CMAX might have had a similar issue?  Oh well, the dealer now has plenty of time to trace it and figure it out.

If you have had the CMAX for 6 months and were careful about MPG, you already know how the hot and cold weather cause hits, and the miles available from the EV are similar, but still better than 15-20 MPG!

Curious - does your state have a lemon law?  An acquaintance of mine had a similar problem with a Prius plug-in.  after 5 attempts to get it fixed, he threatened to sue.  Toyota refunded full price with tax and license less $142 for milage.  He has owned the car sins February.  He's now looking at a CMax Energi...
