howardbc Posted September 27, 2013 at 10:31 PM Report Share Posted September 27, 2013 at 10:31 PM I was a little disappointed to see that the stats for C-Max Energi drivers are evidently included in the "Community" records on My Ford Mobile. All this time I thought the stats were just for Ford Fusion Energi drivers. I'm not making a federal case out of it but it just seems a little unfair to compare apples to oranges. Although it looks like at least a couple of Fusion Energis are giving the C-Max a run for its money.
larryh Posted September 27, 2013 at 11:44 PM Report Share Posted September 27, 2013 at 11:44 PM (edited) The C-MAX Energi is very similar to the Fusion Energi. They share many common components including the drivetrain. In fact, Ford actually had the EPA test the C-MAX Energi for fuel economy rather than the Fusion Energi and used those results for the EPA ratings of the Fusion Energi on the window sticker. The major difference between the two are the bodies. The Fusion is more aerodynamic than the C-MAX, so it has an advantage for fuel efficiency. If the EPA had actually tested the Fusion Energi, the EPA numbers on the window sticker would probably have been better than what is currently shown own the window sticker. howardbc Posted September 28, 2013 at 12:51 AM Author Report Share Posted September 28, 2013 at 12:51 AM Thanks, larryh. I know that the C-Max Energi has almost an identical propulsion system to the Fusion Energi, but the Fusion is over 300 pounds heavier - not to mention quite a bit larger. That can make a difference when comparing MPGe and MPG and probably braking/driving scores too. I would imagine that the different models (SE versus Titanium) can affect the weight too. But I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
larryh Posted September 28, 2013 at 12:59 AM Report Share Posted September 28, 2013 at 12:59 AM (edited) The C-MAX Energi weighs 3860. The Fusion Energi weighs 3913. There is not much difference. howardbc Posted September 28, 2013 at 01:19 AM Author Report Share Posted September 28, 2013 at 01:19 AM Hmm ... I got a figure of 3607 from the Ford website for the C-Max Energi, and the figure of 3913 from the Ford website for the Fusion Energi. I mean, you just look at them and can see a pretty big difference.
