JeffPrice Posted September 13, 2013 at 10:35 PM Report Share Posted September 13, 2013 at 10:35 PM Have you tried opening the drivers door with the key in the FOB? If not you should because when you need to, your owners manual will be safely locked in the glove box.It is on pages 44 and 45 of the PDF I have.It is pretty simple. Take the key and under the cap at the rear of the door handle is a hole. Press the key gently into the hole and slide the cap towards the rear of the car. Wallah... Eric4539 Posted September 13, 2013 at 10:50 PM Report Share Posted September 13, 2013 at 10:50 PM I had the opportunity to do that once. Getting the cap off the door handle is the easy part. Unlocking the door is the other step and is much easier with the bigger key that came dangling on the other fob. For me, more leverage with the bigger key was easier to open the door. murphy Posted September 14, 2013 at 12:57 AM Report Share Posted September 14, 2013 at 12:57 AM If the battery is not dead and the alarm is armed there will be something like a 10 second countdown to disable the alarm before it starts sounding if the door is opened with the metal key. TX NRG Posted September 14, 2013 at 02:00 AM Report Share Posted September 14, 2013 at 02:00 AM How do you disable the alarm in that situation? Drop the fob in the console pouch and push the button to start?

Drop the fob in the console pouch and push the button to start?Yes or enter your code on the door pillar. The only time the metal key should be needed is if the 12 volt battery is completely dead in which case the alarm isn't going to sound. For a dead battery in the IA key use the door pillar key pad to unlock the car and then put the IA key in the console pocket to operate the car. Depauwler Posted September 14, 2013 at 05:41 PM Report Share Posted September 14, 2013 at 05:41 PM Gave that a try today. I was worried I wouldn't get the cap back on right and it'd fall off, but seems secure. I don't have push button, so I just inserted the key and turned it to run to cancel the alarm.
