Eric4539 Posted October 11, 2014 at 02:11 AM Report Share Posted October 11, 2014 at 02:11 AM I had my charge port ring changed once when one of the quadrants was out. Since then it has been fine (knock on wood). Lots of minor things that don't affect how the car drives but they are annoying. I originally thought it was due to buying the first model year and being an early adopter of plug in hybrids, but it seems the 2014 model year did not fix all the bugs. The TSB's have resolved a lot of the issues, and I am still immensely happy with my Energi. jeff_h
Hybridbear Posted October 12, 2014 at 10:24 PM Report Share Posted October 12, 2014 at 10:24 PM yup, the Volt and Leaf have locking charge doors. the Leaf goes one further by also giving the driver the ability to lock the plug to the car. it can automatically release after completing the charge or can remain locked until the owner returns.A few weeks ago I was at a local PEV owners meeting and commented to a Leaf owner about the locking charge port door and the ability to lock the charging cable to the car. He had no idea that the Leaf had those features lol

I'm pretty unimpressed with the lack of a lock for the charge door. It's cool that it spins but it should lock. and, the FFE should have a 6.6 behind the locking door.Starting with 2014 models the Volt ditched the locking charge door. The Volts electrically activated lock was problematic and the source of a lot of warranty claims. That design was also a nuisance if you want to plug in your car but don't have your key, and requires you go inside the car to open the charge door. I think the Energi charge door design got it right from the start.
Dag Posted October 13, 2014 at 08:15 PM Report Share Posted October 13, 2014 at 08:15 PM I wish the charge port light could be turn on fully and left on.
Dan's Energi Posted October 14, 2014 at 06:40 PM Report Share Posted October 14, 2014 at 06:40 PM Starting with 2014 models the Volt ditched the locking charge door. Locking fuel doors have been around forever, there was no reason to give up on the lock because it wasn't working perfectly. Chevy keeps taking steps backwards or sideways while others are moving forward. I disagree that it was a nuisance and shouldn't lock based on the premise that there were times when people didn't have their fob and were inconvenienced. Do those same people remove their doors locks for the times they don't have their keys? Chevy could remove the door completely for times when people didn't have a free hand to open it ;) Funny, Leaf owners use to complain that the Volt had a locking door while they had to unlock manually. Now they have auto-unlocking doors and can lock the plug in place (at least on some models) and Volt's don't do either.
Fernando Posted April 26, 2017 at 04:17 PM Report Share Posted April 26, 2017 at 04:17 PM (edited) Hi, I just bought my 2014 Fusion Energi and I noticed that when I plugged the power cord the ring light only flashes its left side ( not the whole ring) and when it is done charging, only half of the ring is blue. The mile range is 17 miles EV when it is charged. I wonder why it is not charging completely? Thank you for the help! Fernando Posted April 26, 2017 at 04:19 PM Report Share Posted April 26, 2017 at 04:19 PM (edited) But I still very happy about this car! Edited April 26, 2017 at 04:22 PM by Fernando
murphy Posted April 26, 2017 at 04:25 PM Report Share Posted April 26, 2017 at 04:25 PM It is more likely that two of the four segments are burned out. I've had mine replaced once. One of the screens in the center display will give the battery charge percentage. It is selected from the same screen that selects the power flow screen. fused2473 Posted July 18, 2019 at 07:24 PM Report Share Posted July 18, 2019 at 07:24 PM If you don't like the lights on the charge ring they can be turned off.My 2018 pays no attention to how I set the charge port light. It is always on.
