dlb92 Posted August 10, 2013 at 10:21 PM Report Share Posted August 10, 2013 at 10:21 PM I find it difficult to get above 89-91 on the driving score even while using cruise control for the majority of the trip and never going above 55mph. I consistently get 120- 158 MPGe, a breaking score > 97%, and > 24 miles on a charge. Anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong or is it just impossible to obtain a perfect driving score? It's blistering hot here and I've found its easier to keep cool at a higher temperature if you close all the AC vents in the car except for the two next to you. Depauwler Posted August 11, 2013 at 01:17 AM Report Share Posted August 11, 2013 at 01:17 AM Have you checked the Coach display? You might be missing out on braking. When I do well I get upwards of 200MPGe, but I'm having a harder time getting 100% on braking since I switched to using L.

larryh Posted August 11, 2013 at 01:34 AM Report Share Posted August 11, 2013 at 01:34 AM To get 200 MPGe, the average speed must be around 35 mph. The cruising score is based on speed. You are not going to get 100% for a cruising score going 55 mph.
Depauwler Posted August 11, 2013 at 01:40 AM Report Share Posted August 11, 2013 at 01:40 AM Good, or maxed? ;) Ah, didn't know that about the cruising. I had assumed it had to do with consistency, not feathering the gas and the like. I use the L 'gear' instead of the D. Just more aggressive regen braking. You can use it to do one pedal driving; don't need the brake unless you have to come to a complete stop or a quick stop. Because of that I've been tending to use the friction brakes when stopping unless I'm careful. Andre07

Energized Posted August 27, 2013 at 02:50 AM Report Share Posted August 27, 2013 at 02:50 AM What I've noticed for me is the trip has to be in EV mode >90% of the trip to get a score in the 90s. For example: EV Miles: 28.6EV: 100%Brake Score 99%MPG: 999Regen: 8.2 miles Score:
ChuckJ Posted August 29, 2013 at 11:34 AM Report Share Posted August 29, 2013 at 11:34 AM We've had several trips like yours (all ev) and the best we've got is 89 with a brake score of 99%. We accel at the second bar and I think we might have to cut it back to 1 bar. ChuckJ

ChuckJ Posted August 29, 2013 at 11:42 PM Report Share Posted August 29, 2013 at 11:42 PM I think I've finally figured the driving score out. Tonight we went to dinner at a place 8.2 miles away and took the surface streets instead of the freeway; maxed out accel/brake/cruise bars in the coach and got a score of 93. Whoever said before that keeping it 35-40 is the way to maximizing score is correct... even with lots of lights in 100 degree temp. :) I'm going to take a trip this weekend and I think I'll keep the EV for use in the towns and any time I'm on the freeway, turn EV later on.
