surfandswim Posted August 6, 2013 at 05:19 AM Report Share Posted August 6, 2013 at 05:19 AM I went to work today and locked my car went to my office and came out at lunch to find all my windows down and the moonroof open. The key does apparently work from my office to the lot, so is there some sequence on the key that makes this happen, or is this a bug in the car software? BadRock Posted August 6, 2013 at 05:48 AM Report Share Posted August 6, 2013 at 05:48 AM Yup, press unlock once then hold unlock for several seconds will roll down all the windows. Andre07

Depauwler Posted August 6, 2013 at 10:11 PM Report Share Posted August 6, 2013 at 10:11 PM Gotta be careful with the fobs. I keep mine on a carabiner and will sometimes stick it in a drawer at work... Or actually it is an option. You could turn it off, but that's treating the symptom. Probably not good for the fob if you're someone keeping one of the buttons pressed without knowing it.
surfandswim Posted August 7, 2013 at 11:38 AM Author Report Share Posted August 7, 2013 at 11:38 AM Thanks, I figured it was a feature and since my office is on the end by the window my key is in range. So I must have done the sequence without knowing I had with the key in my pocket!
Russael Posted August 7, 2013 at 12:26 PM Report Share Posted August 7, 2013 at 12:26 PM I've set off the alarm with the fob in my pocket before, but that only requires a single press and hold. I was actually working on my truck when the car alarm went off. :) I was on my creeper working on changing the oxygen sensors when I must've pushed the fob against my leg or a key against the creeper. I wish the keys in most fobs were more recessed or possibly more difficult to press (more firm) to keep things like that from happening. I had to replace the shells for my truck fobs and the new shells have protruding buttons which I really dislike where my originals were recessed and a lot smaller. lokicat Posted October 3, 2013 at 07:43 PM Report Share Posted October 3, 2013 at 07:43 PM I would also add that the key has a very surprisingly long range compared to other keys I've had/have - BMW, Mercedes, Lexus.
otahvet Posted May 21, 2016 at 03:27 PM Report Share Posted May 21, 2016 at 03:27 PM I had a similar problem. Came out from work to find all windows down and car unlocked. Called dealership. there is no way I hit the key fob by accident. The key was locked in a desk and untouched. They had no answers. Anyone else having this happen? Russael Posted May 21, 2016 at 10:00 PM Report Share Posted May 21, 2016 at 10:00 PM (edited) You had to have pressed and held your unlock button either on the way in to the building, or on your way out to the car. For a 2013, in the left instrument cluster screen, it's Settings -> vehicle -> windows -> remote open -> on or off. Set this to off and you won't have this problem again. I've done it once (fortunately it was in my garage), so I turned that feature off. I did leave the remote close turned on so I can still remotely roll up the windows if I need to. lhamm Posted June 2, 2017 at 04:34 PM Report Share Posted June 2, 2017 at 04:34 PM We just had this problem yesterday on our 2015 Ford Fusion SE Hybrid. Came out to the car and all the windows were rolled down....who knows for how long? Problem is that it rained a ton during this time and now the inside of the car is wet. Next battle is to prevent a mildew odor. We didn't know if some signal went to the car (not from the fobber), to activate the windows.Glad someone already posted this subject because we were thinking it was a ghost or something! Anyone else having this happen? Yes, found both front windows of my Edge ST fully down and doors unlocked. I did not leave it that way. Fob was sitting unmolested all by itself. Coogles Posted August 30, 2021 at 07:39 PM Report Share Posted August 30, 2021 at 07:39 PM I've had this happen several times on my 2013 Fusion over the years, never a big deal until last week when I headed out to work after a night of heavy rain to find all the windows down and the car's interior soaked. I went ahead and disabled the global open feature via the steering wheel controls (setting>vehicle>windows) so hopefully I won't ever have to worry about drying out my car again. Everest Pool Posted February 20, 2022 at 05:58 PM Report Share Posted February 20, 2022 at 05:58 PM Same issue with a 2017 Everest Trend, again with extremely heavy rain. This is the 2nd time this has happened with an Everest I have owned. Makes me wonder if there is a sensor that opens the windows if the vehicle thinks it’s submerged? Anyway, four+ hours of torrential rain overnight, car pretty much ruined with all the door electronics soaked, speakers dripping water, seats soaked, and 20mm of water across the carpets. Calling insurance company and Ford today.

Calling insurance company and Ford today. Many years ago, I owned a 2013 Energi. One rainy morning while getting ready for work, I was bending over putting my shoes on, I must have pressed, and held the door unlock button, while the fob was in my pocket, the windows and moon roof opened, luckily it was only a minute before I noticed it. I managed to get the windows and moon roof closed by holding the lock button for several seconds. I did go and disable the global opening in the left-hand screen. So, on my new at the time 2016 Energi, I immediately disabled the global opening on the new Fusion.
