Hot weather affecting key?

I live in LA where (compared to the rest of the country) it doesn't get all that hot.  I also park at home and at work in covered parking.  So this summer there have only been two times that I parked uncovered on a particularly hot day.  Both times, when I came back to my car it wouldn't recognize my key (Titanium key fob).  So both times I was stranded.  Eventually it worked enough to get the car to unlock, but then still wouldn't recognize the key to start the car.  So to be clear, the auto unlock when I grabbed the handle didn't work, the unlock button on the remote didn't work, and the lock, start, start on the key didn't work.  Once I get in though, the battery worked enough to say on the dash that it didn't recognize a key, but not enough to start.  Anyone else have that problem?

Didn't try any of those options because at the time I didn't know about them.  While those might work (and I'll try them next time), I'd still like to know if others have had the same experience.  It doesn't seem right for mine to have that happen when the car is maybe just over 100 degrees, if others in Arizona and southern states aren't having the same problem.
