My Ford Mobile down?

I had this happen last week, I tried to get help from tech support but was unsuccessful. I solved it on my own and emailed my input to them.

This is what I sent to Ford....

I actually resolved the issue over the weekend by removing the vehicle from the account and the re-adding it. This made me go through the onscreen confirmation and then again in 24 hours. The only down side is that the trip data is inaccurate as it did not receive data for about 600 miles so there is a discrepancy.

To re-cap the original issue, the MyFord Mobile App on my android would throw an error that said it was unable to communicate with the vehicle and to contact tech support. When logged into the web-based interface it would just show the last data received including location and mileage but would say unable to update when you tried to update or send a command to the car. Unfortunately I can not replicate the error now to produce the exact verbiage but I will remember that if I have issues in the future.

I read on several forums that there was a sync scheduled maintenance that occurred last Tuesday and this began happening about the same time. Not sure if they are related but it does seem a little suspicious.

Their response....

"Thank you for describing the issue for us.  I am glad to hear that you were able to resolve the issue on your own.  Shortly after receiving your email, we did learn that we’ve experienced a brief outage at about the same time as the issue with your account had occurred, so there may have been a connection there, as you’ve suggested."

Anyway hope it helps!

  • 5 weeks later...

Logged onto the MFM web site as usual and see that the 'My Community' link is now active.

...though I question the accuracy, as on the 'Gas Sipper' tab it measures how long you've gone without adding gas and our Energi is shown as 27 miles, but actually it's been more than 600 on the current tank thus far.

I've never even used gas yet since May... so I'm thinking it's only for the last couple of days when they started logging that information.  Someone in another thread said the community tab popped up about a week ago and was then hidden, so I assume we have about 1 week worth of trips logged.

On the bright side, I'm rated number 1 for Renaissance Man and number 2 for Ratio Champ for my region. :)

I would love to get in the top rankings. I don't think my daily 70 mile roundtrips are ever going to allow that, though. Not unless I go 40 mph on I95  :shift: .  I'm thinking the tickets I would accrue wouldn't quite make it worth it.  :redcard:

You could still shoot for top rankings in braking score... though I am also on 95 on the VA side and over on MD now and then... sometimes tough to be smooth when the whole conga line comes to a sudden stop...

Last time I was there, during the weekend of August 8 - 10, I95 and I395 were both parking lots.  I was trying to get in to the Inner Harbor for the Otakon event (34,000+ attendees), but on top of all of that, they had a baseball game going AND a Justin Timberlake concert.  So it was traffic on traffic on traffic.  I idled away about 1/4 tank of gas in my Expedition.  Normally it's an 8.5 hour trip to get there but due to an accident on I70 which turned THAT in to a parking lot for almost 1 1/2 hours, it wound up taking me 12+ hours.

We have a term for the above, it's called 'Fridays'... sounds so familiar, and why I normally telework each Friday during summers as not only are the local commuters on the road, but also the out-of-staters with various plates and all enjoying each others' company....

Looks like I picked a bad time to do some trips for these rankings. 2 trips up to Pennsylvania has dropped my lifetime MPG from 220s down to 83. The good news is that this car is really impressive with 43MPG average going through the mountains. I got 46 on my trip to the East side of the state -- even going though DC traffic.

Well I didn't make any of the scoreboards.  However, I did get a New Impact Achievement for driving 40 miles on one charge during my weekly commute this morning.  I guess if you are careful in switching between EV Later and Auto EV, you get this award.  I think the wind was helping me this morning.  I used 0.55 gallons of gas to go 56.5 miles.  Normally it is around 0.7.  I have no way to verify that this award is valid since the car does not show me the plug-in energy miles.  But if I went 40 miles on plug-in energy, that leaves 16.5 miles for hybrid mode.  16.5 / 0.55 = 30 MPG seems rather low to me.  I don't know how they determined the plug-in energy miles for this.

It would be nice if they would display the total number of cars in each region.  I think I have a smaller region than most.  My worst ranking is gas sipper at #51.   The value shown has never changed since the scoreboard was created.

I agree... I'd like to know how many total we're being compared against.  Aside from that, it'd also be nice to know how many other Energi owners are in my region and to see that number hopefully grow.

Murphy, were you unable to see mine or was it Eric's?

The braking score is for total regen miles. There isn't much braking on 95 and 695 unless your're in a lot of stop and go. Even that won't accumulate that many miles. The most I have ever accumulated on a trip is 4 miles. I'm gonna need to do a lot of braking to beat the top people in my region, which is over 300 miles.
