howardbc Posted July 23, 2013 at 10:51 PM Report Share Posted July 23, 2013 at 10:51 PM Does anyone know if it is possible to increase/change the back-lighting for the buttons on the large area below the main display? I pulled into a dark parking garage the other day and suddenly realized I couldn't see anything around the large volume button. I discovered how to change the back-lighting on the displays to the left and right of the steering wheel but not for the area I'm talking about today. I went into "Settings" on the main display but didn't see anything that appeared to apply to back-lighting on things like fan speed, temp setting, and radio settings. Again, this is the large area below the main display and around the large radio/volume button. I don't know about everyone else, but I've given up on using the Voice Commands and instead use the manual buttons to control fan speed and temperature. By now, I pretty much know where they are but still would like to be able to see them when it is dark. If I don't find the answer by next month, I am going to "Tech Night" at my local Ford dealer. I'm assuming all Ford dealers have something similar. Maybe they can help me with using the Nav system too.
Eric4539 Posted July 24, 2013 at 02:09 AM Report Share Posted July 24, 2013 at 02:09 AM I hope I understand which lights you are trying to increase the intensity for. I couldn't find any control to independently increase/decrease the backlighting for the instrument panel versus the center stack. If you look at the Headlight control knob, there are 2 buttons just to the left which turn the fog lights on/off. There are 2 buttons just to the right of the Headlight knob; the upper button increases the intensity and the lower button decreases the intensity of the entire dashboard and steering wheel controls. The functions immediately surrounding the large volume button are not backlit and control the radio or CD player like fast forward or rewind. Check out page 68 of the owner's manual. I hope that is the control you were looking for. If not, someone on this forum will know the answer. So many of our friends here know the ins and outs of the Energi very, very well.
