Markn455 Posted July 22, 2013 at 01:31 AM Report Share Posted July 22, 2013 at 01:31 AM I am amazes that a car that has such a low drag coefficient as te Fusion has such violent wind buffeting when you drive with one window rolled down. My Fusion has more than any other car I own. More than my F-250, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Corvette, and my 2012 Genesis R-Spec which has virtually none. This is a subject/technology I know little about. In any case, it sure is annoying to have to open another window or the sunroof to keep from getting pounded to death. Isn't this car suppose to slip through the air with little or no turbulence? Thoughts? Mark
Energized Posted July 22, 2013 at 02:06 AM Report Share Posted July 22, 2013 at 02:06 AM (edited) The quieter a vehicle is, the more "packing" will occur if only one window is opened. The reason for this is a vehicle that's designed to be very quiet does not have anywhere for incoming air to escape, or leak out. Cracks and seams are filled to keep the cabin tight. The air "packs" into the cabin, causing the buffeting sensation you hear. The solution is to crack another window or vent the moon roof. The owner's manual says: Note: You may hear a rumbling noise whenjust one of the windows are open. Lower theopposite window slightly to reduce thisnoise.
