howardbc Posted July 19, 2013 at 02:02 AM Report Share Posted July 19, 2013 at 02:02 AM This afternoon the sun visor on the driver's side just fell out of the hole it was attached to. I tried to put it back in as well as I could but I will need to take the car to the Ford dealer. I suspect this may have happened because the 3rd party company (used by the dealer) who installed my HomeLink and sunroof really made a mess of things. They managed to erase my 3 HomeLink codes and it was a nightmare getting them put back. They had to remove the entire roof lining several times to install and then fix their messes. My home is 40 miles (each way) from the dealer I bought from and even farther from the sunroof/HomeLink installation company. I will contact a Ford dealer who is much closer to fix the sun visor. Earlier this afternoon I had pulled the sun visor out to cover sunshine coming in on the driver's side. This must have been the last straw for it, but it shouldn't have come out of its "socket." I'm not a macho man - just an old lady - so the visor wasn't subjected to any undue strength. Has anyone else had any problems with their sun visors? Eric4539 Posted July 19, 2013 at 02:49 AM Report Share Posted July 19, 2013 at 02:49 AM I haven't had a problems with my sun visors. So your car did not come from the factory with the Moonroof and Universal Garage Door Opener? You may want to call your dealer first and explain the issue with your sun visor. It might be better to have them check if both your sunroof and HomeLink are OK too. Good luck!
Depauwler Posted July 20, 2013 at 12:25 AM Report Share Posted July 20, 2013 at 12:25 AM When I bought my car, the passenger side visor had fallen off. They fixed it while we were doing the financials, but they said they had gotten a couple like that.
howardbc Posted July 20, 2013 at 03:15 AM Author Report Share Posted July 20, 2013 at 03:15 AM Thank you, depauwler, for telling me about your experience. I feel a little better now. I will go to my closest Ford dealer to (hopefully) have it fixed on Monday. I didn't think it was serious enough to warrant a Friday or Saturday service trip. In the mean time, I've duct-taped the fallen sun-visor to one of the door hangers on the roof above the driver's door. Hopefully it will hold. While doing the duct-taping, I noticed that one of the small plastic parts on the door hanger was falling off too. Eric4539, unfortunately my car didn't come with either a sunroof or the HomeLink. I definitely wanted both, so I had them installed after the purchase. I just don't understand why every car, especially the so-called luxury model, doesn't automatically come with these 2 options. I live in Phoenix - I don't need the heated seats (good grief), nor the Park Assist. Remember that this car was virtually non-existent when I started looking in March, so I took what was available. I put a deposit on the car while it was still on the train from Mexico. Now 3+ months later I have yet to see another one! When I ask Ford salesmen how many have been sold in my area, I don't get an answer. I just hope that things like the sun-visor and the door hangers are the only things that were put together sloppily.
