Madevilz Posted June 17, 2023 at 12:55 AM Report Share Posted June 17, 2023 at 12:55 AM It rained quite a bit today when my wife used the car. I noticed the fuel tank door was opened when she got home. She told me she must have accidentally opened it when she got out. If in the case she actually drove with the tank door opened, is there any possibility that rain water could have gone past the flap? And could it be a hazard for the engine? jsamp Posted June 17, 2023 at 05:09 AM Report Share Posted June 17, 2023 at 05:09 AM It is highly unlikely any water got in. The filler tube is above and proud of the surrounding pocket, so any water that ran in wouldn't make it to the opening. Only a direct hit on the flapper would possibly get in, but there is a seal around that flapper because the whole fuel system is pressurized to keep the fuel from spoiling if it sits in the tank for a long time due to high EV use. You're probably fine. jj2me
