Philly Brian Posted April 27, 2023 at 11:29 PM Report Share Posted April 27, 2023 at 11:29 PM While exiting the interstate I must have accidentally pressed the Start button while reaching for the air vent. Suddenly the dash lights started going dark and the message box to the left said (I think) "Car is Shutting Off". Luckily I was able to travel down the short ramp and pull over to safety to ponder what had just happened. I eventually pressed the Start button and things were back to normal. My question is: Would it have been OK to press the Start button while still moving at 45 mph?
jsamp Posted April 28, 2023 at 06:13 AM Report Share Posted April 28, 2023 at 06:13 AM That is really strange. I sometimes purposely shut mine off if I didn't realize I was in "Auto" mode and unintentionally started the ICE. But it won't shut off until I'm <5MPH and I have to hold the start button for >3 seconds for it to shut off. I would think it wouldn't shut off at such a high speed. I would doubt it would do any damage to restart at speed, at least in neutral. It may be programmed to not do so, not sure.
