Markn455 Posted June 30, 2013 at 02:01 AM Report Share Posted June 30, 2013 at 02:01 AM Each time I unplug my 120v charger, I get a text message, sometimes more than one, telling me that the charger was "accidentally disconnected" and to reconnect the charger to complete. It does not matter if the charge has completed or partial charge, I always get the message. Is there some process for removing the charge cable from the charge port that I am missing here? Every time I remove the cable, it's intentional. Mark Ball Ground, GA
Russael Posted June 30, 2013 at 02:24 AM Report Share Posted June 30, 2013 at 02:24 AM It was a software bug introduced in to the latest website upgrade. I personally unchecked that particular alert since it it now utterly useless. I never really saw the point of that anyway... if someone unplugs my car, its not as if I'm dead in the water. I'd be far more concerned if I drove a BEV.

Or if your wife unplugs the 7 hour charger to do her hair (same circuit) and forgets to plug it back in. ;-)

Russael Posted July 10, 2013 at 02:32 AM Report Share Posted July 10, 2013 at 02:32 AM For me, it doesn't matter. My car will say 'charging complete' and then spit up an 'accidental unplug' when I pull the cord, whether I hold the button down on the connector for 5 seconds or not, and it always does it now (I tried the 5 second thing after someone mentioned it here, still got the alert). If my car IS in the middle of charging, I also do the press and hold the connector switch until my charging indicator on my Leviton goes out, and then I pull the cord. With that situation, I would expect to get the accidental unplug since charging was incomplete. I unchecked all of those alerts so now I don't get them anymore. laurencekirsch Posted July 14, 2013 at 03:10 PM Report Share Posted July 14, 2013 at 03:10 PM I am a new Fusion owner (about a week) and just began getting these same messages. I'm glad it isn't just me. Should something be done to let Ford know about this problem so that maybe it will do something about it?
larryh Posted July 14, 2013 at 03:28 PM Report Share Posted July 14, 2013 at 03:28 PM I haven't received the accidental unplug notice since I started holding down the button on the plug until I here the click. I only get it if I unplug it when it isn't fully charged.

larryh Posted July 15, 2013 at 08:39 PM Report Share Posted July 15, 2013 at 08:39 PM (edited) I think the button functions differently on different chargers. I saw the followed posted in the CMax Forum: It would appear that on some chargers, pushing the release button simply releases the lock holding the plug in place, in others, it also disconnects the control lines, which tells the car to stop charging. I am using the 120 volt charger that came with the car. I think it would be safer if the charger was informed that the release button was pressed and to stop current flow before pulling the plug. Eric4539 Posted July 15, 2013 at 08:56 PM Report Share Posted July 15, 2013 at 08:56 PM I always plug and unplug by pressing the release button. I am paying close attention to this now. I had my car plugged in for 3 days, unplugged it, and I received the error message. I plugged the car in again Friday afternoon and unplugged it Saturday afternoon well after it was fully charged. I received the accidentally disconnected error. I left it unplugged all Sunday and I drove the car today for about 3 miles round trip for an appointment. I plugged the car in, received the fully charged text, so I unplugged, but this time I did not receive the disconnected error. For me it seems hit or miss. I will be installing the Level 2 charger this weekend so we'll see if that charger gives me the same error message when I disconnect it after the car is fully charged. Russael Posted July 16, 2013 at 12:01 AM Report Share Posted July 16, 2013 at 12:01 AM My Leviton has a switch in the release trigger that will disengage charging (if it is in the middle of charging) after 1 second of holding it or if I'm using a go time or remote start. It's nice having an indicator showing what it's doing on the charger itself... After depressing the release trigger, I'll hear the pop of the relay and the charging light will go out, and then I pull the plug... and still get the warning. :( Must be something about my specific charger. I've only used my 120v charger twice, and I also got the accidental unplug alert with that too.
