One fill up in 2,500 miles! Looks like a 21 mile battery is plenty in the Ford Fusion Energi.

Hi Everyone,

I posted a new blog article on our MPG so far:

Please have a look and post comments on this forum thread:

Agreed

I have used less than 1/4 tank so far (from orginal dealer fill up) and have traveled 1500 miles! I've had the car since the end of March.

My MPGe is reporting 102.

My daily commute is only 18 miles round trip and is usually always 100% electric. I also feel having the 240 volt charger makes a difference too - recharges so fast that most of my post-work trips are all electric as well.

I don't mean to be contrary, but this is only true for a relatively small subset of drivers who have very short commutes...

I have a 46 mile commute 2x week, and with a couple of other visits to friends 150 miles away, short trips on a daily basis, etc., I am reading about 63 MPG over about 1800 miles traveled so far.

So for anyone who uses their car for more than 7,665 miles per year (assuming only one charge per day of course), they will not get this kind of "MPGe".

A round trip to work and back is about 29 miles, so I wish it had just a bit more EV range.  But I can make it most of the way on EV and with EV+, I use very little gas coming home. I wish my work had even a 110 plug for me to plug in to.

With a few long trips to the beach (300 miles) I have driven 2260 miles, 1799.8 on EV. It says I am getting 116 mpg. I have only bought about 18 gal of gas and have a full tank now.

I love this car!

I'm at 1833 miles this evening and my commute is 112 miles round-trip with L2 re-charge for free at work. I'm averaging 65 MPGe commuting and ~54 MPGe overall because of a long weekend on the Cape with no charge (close to 300 miles) Overall, it's working out to 70 mpg calculating the old fashion way by filling the tank. So I'm going to typically fill the tank with 13 gallons every 850 miles or so. That compares with my Nissan Altima hybrid where I put 19 gallons in every 600 miles. So basically I've cut my gas bill in half. It's going to save me around $1,800 annually. That works for me although I'm anticipating a material increase in my electric bill, obviously.
