New! New! New!

Hello all! I am new to the boards. New to Ford . And new to this thing called plug in hybrid. I have been a lifelong Honda fan and never in my life thought I would buy a Ford. I was tired of getting 17mpg and dropping between $4000-$5000/year on gas and thought it was time to do something about that. Now almost 1000 miles later and still on the dealer gas, I gotta say I'm impressed. The car's lines are beautiful and the technology puts my previous cars (and truck) to shame! Now, it just has to be as reliable as my other vehicles and Ford may have me for life. Fingers crossed for 4 years and 80000+ miles without a single hitch! (Yeah. I drive a lot.) :-)

New? New? New?  Great! Great! Great!

We did the same for my wife's car, replacing one that averaged 17MPG with the Energi.  She is now at 3,200 miles and we are almost to fill-up #3.  At 3,200 miles in the old car that would have been 188 gallons and $630 at $3.35 (yesterday's price near our house), and bigger savings for those who live in higher gas price states.  And what about the cost of the electricity to charge the car?  Well there are threads about that here, I don't track the actual KWH used on the car (some here do) but I added up the electricity cost of the entire house (AC, laundry, dishwasher, car charging) and combine that with the actual cost of gasoline used by the Energi, and still am about $100 lower than what I would have spent in her previous car over the past 2 months.
